Just wanted you to know that this was a clear favorite for a very long time, but as we started playing with how this would work as a logo with all of the different applications we see going forward, the use of the color in the background - which is what everyone loved - really started to limit the versatility of the mark. And when we compared the plain b/w line illustration with other entries, we preferred others more. Thank you so much for participating. We really loved your work. Doug
I appreciate you sharing these. I'm not going to rank for the moment. Focused on narrowing a bit more. If you end up the winner, then we can fine tune more on all of these. Thank you!
Appreciate you exploring these. One last request. And perhaps try it for one of the lighter type faces. And with the tongue that is currently in the illustration ranked first. But don't worry about the word Golden being spaced to complete the circle. In this bolder, heavier face it looks pretty normal. In some of the lighter faces, it starts spreading out too much, and looks like they don't curve well as a word. If the letter spacing is tighter across the bottom, with less curve, it might read a bit better. Thank you!
Thanks Bradley. Thanks for the broader exploration. I left some specific comments on a couple of the new ones. Could you also look at this one and try the word golden in a san serif font? Like you are using in 328 and. 329? Thank you!
Can you look at a b/w version that just uses the main lines of your drawing? And doesn't try to represent the places where you have golden spots of color in your original drawing. Thank you!
Hi Doug
Nice to meet you :)
I do have some ideas around implementation and logo application and it can definately be done. For instance using Happiness is GOLDEN as a stamp and how that stamp interacts with the Logomark, or leaving the Icon out, or adding it as a small "Signature"in the slogan area. It can also be cost saving that way (one colour applications). I'm going to add an option as an example. What your brand essentially need is a Brand Manual, something that is not really within scope of LT but I do know they allow further correspondence between Client and Designer after the Selection Phase.
I will add options (with your recommendations) within the next few hours. Thanks again for taking your time to provide valueble feedback.
We've been using happiness is golden as the tagline for our Golden Dog Farm endeavor. But we found people wanted to buy stuff that just had the Happiness is Golden line on it by itself. So we decided we would create a separate identity for the brand. This is going to go on t-shirts, hats, mugs etc. - often paired with other illustrations, sayings, etc. where this won't be primary (but to start, where it is the primary communication - think of the Life is Good brand as an example). Please give this a look in that light and let me know if you have any thoughts or areas to explore that would move the idea forward.
And as mentioned, in another comment (I think), would love to see continued type exploration here as well.
Like the color enhancements on the logo here. Would love to see a couple of things. A B/W or grayscale version. Want to see how this translates. And also some additional type exploration. Thanks for being a part of the contest. Happy to have you as a finalist.
First, thanks for joining the contest. Glad to have your entries in the mix. This is a very cool and distinctive illustration style. Not sure it immediately reads as a golden retriever though - if you want to look at how you might strengthen that communication, that would be helpful. In the meantime, moving to prefers others category.
