I like where you're going with #8. It does have the ability to have something different in the house where you've placed the blue dot, making it relevant to our many web sites, and I like the text in the enclosure at the bottom. My concern with #9 would be that the light blue used in the text would be difficult to see on a light background (whereas #8 doesn't have this issue).
One thing I'm wondering, and I might be TOTALLY off-base here (tell me if you think so). Would it look more engaging if the rotated-square background were also "rounded" like the oval that is behind the "insider house" text? That is, the oval has a gradient that makes it look more "3D" whereas the rotated-square, while there's a gradient, is clearly 2D.
Or would that look too busy?
