Hi All,
I talked to the client about what the company wants. The designs coming now are *very simple* and do not have any "character".
The client does NOT want a paw plopped on a G or in the text. Simple and boring.
The client does NOT want a basic paw plopped in a square or circle only. Done too many times. Simple and boring.
The client does NOT want (1) pet only focused. They are a hospital that cares for many animals.
Cats and Dogs are the traditional pets and that is the main reason a paw was suggested.
The client is still interested in a paw / G combination. However, I told him that is a concept that has probably been done 1000's of times. You will need to think of something exceptional to make it stand out.
Some things I recommended to the client or that the client repeated:
1 ) Stay with solid colors.
2) Focus on the concepts of pets, care / professionalism but also speak to the Green Acres idea if possible. Eg. green acres = open fields for play with a pet.
4) The logo should be pleasing on a compact surface such as a dog ball or cat ball (for branding).
4) Visible - think Google and McDonalds - clearly visible fonts. Note the image references.
5) Idea: Possibly use a key part of the old logo icon to simplify as part of the new logo - considering new comments by client.
6)Idea: 3 squares (different colors?) with different elements of who they are - pets, care / professionalism, Green Acres
Some things I would recommend to stay away from - hearts, crosses (unless unique and special).
The client seemed very keen on good use of font and having a unique icon. They want either to stand alone as a nice thing to look at.
Looking at their visual reference, you might be able to make a Wordmark that incorporates an icon that can stand alone.
So...probably not:
