Hi deux, I am waiting for my client's feedback and have been taking a long look at all of the entries. I really like this #59 and the more I look at it i am thinking it might look cool with the 'O' in Koi as just an all red circle? I don't know if they will like this concept but if it is not too much trouble for you to make that version it will give them another option on this theme. Thanks again for the entries!
Thank you, the client did not express interest in this but we are collaborating and this #76 is my top choice, so I have made a strong case for it. It not only represents Japan but also the Tancho Koi and I really like the dual meanings. I agree on the font, I am thinking something serif maybe, going for a Japanese Imperial feel but very subtle. A little more vertical spacing maybe in the top section. I really like the concept, I have you in the top 5 going into the end of phase 1 tomorrow.
They are not married to any concept so if you also want to try something different there is still time to impress them. Their general feedback for all entries was: "they should come out with a logo having solid red,black and white. They should come out with a back ground color to get it to our expectations."
Now I have advised them against a colored background as I prefer transparent for various applications but am waiting to hear back about this. I think they are looking for more substance maybe. Thanks again deux!
On the #76 when I said maybe a serif I meant on the 'Grand' part, I think the KOI part looks great and would be a nice contrast with the grand font being a little more stately and descriptive of what kind of Koi they are. If that makes any sense lol.
Good morning from my part of the planet! Thank you for the fantastic feedback.... greatly appreciated! Will read it once again and upload some revisions and new designs that hopefully impress both you and the client.
So i;ve done my research and dug up Japanese history. All of them, the great houses had house emblems that date back thousands of years and are distinct of the Japanese way of design... minimal and bold... just like graphic design should be. With that said.... i;ve created a house emblem logo for Grand Koi... #105 #106 dark surface variant and #107 #108 light variant. It can be easily used and made into monochrome and inversed for various mediums.

I like some of your entries and the client likes some elements but overall is not thrilled with anything. I am still waiting on specific feedback for a couple of the newer designs. We have 2 days in this phase of the contest, please pull out all stops and impress my client with something and make my job easier haha. Thanks for all of your hard work.

LOL...yes deux, you know I really like your stuff. Your latest designs are the ones I am interested in hearing back about, I have that specific question out to them now and will let you know what they say hopefully.
Those are the ones that i would love to sell because there is a concept behind them... not just design on a whim ;) Thanks mate.... keeping my fingers crossed.
