I thought I had typed up a brief description, but I guess it didn't post? ANYWAY - I selected the flat colors/layout so that the logo can be easily embroidered,stitched, etc. onto apparel or other cloth. With gradients, that's not possible.

I am working on s subtle/timeless icon to incorporate your feedback regarding the ice cream/dessert.
