Color Preferences
The logo will most likely be used on black or white backgrounds - i.e. initially at least it's main purpose is to be on my website as a logo, and it will be used to watermark photographs (so the background needs to be such that it can be overlaid on top of an image as a watermark).

I've never used an EPS file before but I think I will need 1 version with a black or transparent background for the website logo, and then just a normal transparent version for the watermarking of jpegs on the blog.

To give you an idea of how I'm going to use it, if you browse to http://www.catoandpade.com.au you'll see a current (very simple) logo in the top left hand corner, then if you click the blog link down bottom right you'll see the images are watermarked with the same logo. (I am changing the business name from cato & pade to Gavin Cato Photography hence the new logo)

I'm open to ideas for color - just as long as it suits the high-end feel that I'm looking for. It will also be used as letterheads for invoices and general business documents.

hi guys & girls

just an important snippet from the brief which I thought I'd post here as well.

hi guys. just to go over the colours again, the website version of the logo can't be a grey or similar - it would need to either be transparent or have a black background.

I'm pretty handy with a camera but not with graphic design so would welcome any suggestions etc.

hi guys

I'm finding it hard to keep track of the comments (this site really needs a email notify for logo comments). If it seems I am ignoring you, please message me :) I'm about to go through and try and catch up

Small update - the client mistakenly chose the extension amount wrong. He will not be at his computer for the next 2 days or so - he will be on a photo shoot.

thank you to everyone and I'm sorry I couldn't select more winners, the top 10 or so ranked were all great and I'd have been happy with any of them.
