Thanks for your logo entries. In particular, the bird ones are excellent. I would not spend more time on the snake G ones. While they are subtle and well thought through, I think they would struggle to be a distinctive enough image for the site.
The bird-based logos are excellent. Birders will be a large part of the user base, especially as the site builds momentum. Also, birds are globally recognisable and this bird image would resonate with people wherever they live.
Among the bird logos, I really like the leaf/crest on the bird. I also like the two tone version of the bird. and the fine white line breaking the face tones up in entry #22.
I do worry a bit about how entry #22 would translate to a black background but perhaps that is easy to address by using various colours and tones for the logo, depending on the backgorund.
Thanks for the updated images, especially on a black background. The definitely prove that the logo works on a black background. I still prefer #22 among the entries submitted but #36 would be a fine alternative on black. I would like to know if the colour gradients in #36 also work well on a white background.
I like the more sharp angle at the bottom of the bird's head rather than the smoother shape. I like the bird's eye in #53. #22 and #50 are pretty close in my own rankings. I like the colour simplicity of #22 still but #50 is good also.
These new designs are really coming along. I like the ones with the yellow stripe in the logo icon more than with just green. They look great on both a white and black background. I like the text positioning in entry #73 but the text colouring in #76.
These are definitely looking good enough to get to the final round of logos. Many thanks. I am going to get some feedback from colleagues now so hold off on changes unless you get more good ideas.
I like the more stylised G and the way it has been integrated into the circle but it still needs a little refinement I think. Something we can work on over the next phase of the process. Thanks for the new ideas.
Thanks for the new designs. I think you are really getting somewhere with the way that the Gaia G is getting integrated into the image of the bird. Minor feedback:
1. I think the yellow dot on the gaia could just be green.
2. I think the pink triangle filling in the circle is better than blank space but perhaps it could be yellow instead.
With regard to overall rankings, I am now down to looking at three main designs. Two of those are on my shortlist because I like the unspoken messages that they convey to people - they have a story to tell about the nature of what the guide is and offers. Yours is on the shortlist because I live the artwork and the dynamism of the imagery. However, I am still trying to find the story that it is telling me about what Gaia Guide might be.
Any thoughts you have on what the messages are that you have worked into the image would be good to hear. They might even help us finalise the designs a bit better.
I really like the new designs and this is reflected in the rankings. I prefer the version with the colour filling in behind the G of Gaia. I will think about what sort of colour palette is best. So far I think keeping the colours limited to at most 3 is sensible but which 3?
Entry #141 is getting pretty unanimous approval. The only substantive feedback has been that the small triangle of colour above the G that is a yellowy orange could be made very slightly more orange so that the yellow bird is more clearly delimited without introducing a whole new colour.
Thanks for the change. It is exactly as I requested and I like it. At this stage I think you have taken the design to where it needs to be. Now down to this end to figure out what will work best for the website. Many thanks for your efforts in developing such an excellent logo.
In the event that your logo entry is selected as the winner in this tournament, would it be possible for the final set of files that you send me to include the logo with a clear background in either a Photoshop or Gimp file format?
That would ensure that I can conform it to the broader colour scheme of the website and mobile applications and it will ensure that I have easy control over scale and eventual file sizes etc.
Of course, if you chose my design as the winner I will give you the original file to Eps format (Encapsulated PostScript) for you to edit in adobe illustrator
With the format "PNG" logo without the background, the format "gif" and "pdf", so you can open it in Photoshop without the background so you can customize the logo with any background color you like.
But do not forget to send your email after the contest is over, so I can send you all of the above file formats.
Thanks for uploading the files. I will approve transfer of the funds as soon as I get the versions of the logo, by email, that enable me to scale the image and alter its background, in Photoshop.
