This was the kind of design that I initially had in mind. It is kind of reminiscent of a super hero's belt buckle. (I just can't let go or my inner super hero.) It would work well in silhouette which is a plus and is nice and strong.
Trying to look at the logo without taking in that it is two f's, I'm wondering if there is anything that can be done with the shapes to communicate a little more what the site is about? I'm not great at this - but for example, there are two kind of dark blues areas between that are connected by a thin channel where the bar of the f's just doesn't quite meet up. This could almost represent two people communicating. For example, would that shape work as speech bubbles? Anyway, don't know if that is too complicated...
