These are all too busy... try to focus on the lettermark and tone down the graphic elements. #23 is the best of the bunch and may be a good place to start.

Some of your concepts for DAS may work for us... they are polished, clean, but still have impact and would allow us to have our full name beside the lettermark but also use just the lettermark and possibly add our researc program names beside the lettermark when needed. Adding the research theme will be the challenge.

Using the diamond or circle concept from DAS we had a quick discussion internally and feel if we added white roots below the letter-mark in the black/grey region it would do a few things:
• signify the growth our organization with the white roots transitioning to “fRI”
• represent partnership
• illustrate the natural component to our research
• the horizontal break between green and grey represents the landscape horizon or the top of a hill
• the colour green above this break reflects living component of our research and the black/grey base represents our strong foundation

#51 is getting close. A couple things
- Can we add a bit of a black to grey gradient on the lower half of the logo?
- Can we simplify the roots (make it a bit stronger and less realistic)... I am afraid at small sizes it just blurs out.
- Can we shrink the size of the "RI" in relation to the "f" - I find the "RI" is a bit too dominant
- Liek the DAS logo, I liked the horizontal rounded break that almost resmebled the top of a hill
- I like the vertical grey bar between the lettermark and the workmark... eventually the legal name will drop form the logo

Can you also try a sqaure/diamond version of #51 with the changes above as well? I would also like to see a version with a lowercase "f" in Foothills to match the lettermark.

The treatment on the R for #42 is a bit busy and #41 has too may roots.

I am going to think about #52 and #53 and may provide some feedback yet.

Looking good... thanks for making the changes so quickly. The roots look much clearer. I think we are down to an internal decision between circle and square.

On #60 and #61 it looks like the legal name, the tagline, adn the grey horizonal brake need to be justified... the right edge looks fine but the left edge looks off.

On #61 would it be possible to reduce the size of the "fRI" so there is more green padding around it?

Once those tweaks are done...

I would also like to see a circle and a sqaure version with a lowercase "f" in the legal name "Foothills Research Institute" to match the lettermark.

I would also like to see a circle and a sqaure version where instead of legal name "Foothills Research Institute" it just says "Research Growing Into Practice"

The changes look good... the "fRI" in the circle does stand out better now. I think "Research Growing Into Practice" might look better in grey. I am also not sure about the drop show under the circle... I am not sure if it is needed.

Yuour lowercase treatment missed the mark a bit. I woudl have kep the weight of the font the same as the all caps version (it was too bold).

I look forward to getting feedback from the larger group at fRI in the next phase of the tournament.

Entry #155, can you ake the "H" lowercase as well?

Entry #156 & #157... I think I like serifs font better.

Can you output 6 versions for me for final comparison?

3 square:
- foothills in lowercase (#155)
- foothills in uppercase (#69)
- just "research growing into practice" in grey (like #72 but grey)

3 round
- foothills in lowercase
- foothills in uppercase
- just "research growing into practice" in grey (Alrady done #154)

Had a quick review internally and before we send the logos around for final input I need a couple changes.

In both the round (#208, #206, #205) and square (#212, #210, #209) versions can you:

- remove the horizontal and vertical grey line breaks and the re-adjust the placement/spacing of the legal name & tagline in relation to the lettermark?
- use a font for the tagline in # 208, #206, #212, and #210 that shows up a bit better? We are concerned it may be a tad too small and it needs it to be cleaner and more visible...

Send me a note when you are ready to upload as I have been moving around the rankings to allow the final designers to make small tweaks.

Can you also upload a version with just the round lettermark and juyst the square lettermark? These will be going for review to our senior management today.

I noticed you bumped the "fRI" left in order to centre it over the root. Now it looks off centre to me.

I also noticed you in #252 you changed the gradient... I think I like the original diffused treatment on the square version better. However, in #253 it looks good on the circle.

I also think after seeing multiple versions of the lowercase vs.uppercase of "foothills" we prefer the lowercase version so we dont need to see anymore uppercase versions.

I do like the font you used for the tagline... stands out much nicer.

As far as colours, I think instead of the brown I would like to see the other green from our orginal logo used instead.

So changes needed accross the board:
- adjust "fRI" and root alignment so they are centered in the circle or square and there is even padding both sides of the lettermark
- on the circle version with the full name and tagline I think the ful name and tagline can be moved to the right a tad and also the scale of the full name and tagline can be increased so it is justified with the top and bottom of the circle. Same goes for the version with the just the tagline.

Final outputs [in both round (green-3 and grey-3) and square (green-3 and grey-3) total of 12 versions]:
- Lettermark
- Lettermark with tagline
- Lettermark with full name and tagline

Sorry for the extra work. After this is done I will be sending the designs around to our senior management for final judging.

Oh, and for now, leave the "registered" symbol off the design... at this point we are down to 2 designers and I think the sybol may distract from the overall design during judging by our senior group.
