Hi Dash, how are you? No worries, thanks for choosing my design, I'm glad your happy with the final logo ; ). I only have the option to upoad in eps and jpg so I uploaded those two options. I layered the eps with 3 layers so you have the license plate on one, the established on the other and the logo on the third. If you have any questions or queries just let me know. Cheers, Santi.
Hi Santi, sorry for waiting, and thanks for dropping the message to check. We have finialized our selection in the weekend and chosen this design as the winner. Congrats :) Like i said before I have chosen the car plate version with the ESTB as we can choose to turn off elements in the .ai file if we juz want a bare FEAT logo :) Please check that the top 3 ranked are the same logo just with and without the car plate and ESTB. If so, we look forward to receiving your work. I suppose we will be getting the working file in .ai right (as this is the first time I use logotournament)? JPEG is not necessary as we can have Illustrator render JPEGs in whatever size we need when we need them. Thanks Santi, do you have a work email address that we can contact you by next time if we need more gfx done? :)
Hi Santi, we had a big shoot this entire week, literally had no time at all, will be going through your works again in the weekend though to finalize, will let u know if there is anything. :) Cheers enjoy your weekend as well!
Yeah thats not a problema I can upload that one and send over the other 2 versions so you have them. The font used for everything is Adam CG but the FEAT hast been totally modified from the original font. Cheers, Santi.
Sure, i will just choose the one with ESTD for now, we can turn it off if we don't nd it. Let me sit on it for a while, and see if there is anymore issues :) Can i check what is the font used for the estb? Also is the FEAT based on a particular font at the start? If so what is the font?
Thanks Santi, looking good. I'm thinking do you feel that all the gaps between the long connected line and the short lines could be widened a little further to make the connected line stand out more?
Ah ok perfect, yeah since you put 623 I went back to that version. So many of them I got dizzy jejeje. Just uploaded this last one with the center of the A perfectly centered it was slightly off to one side. ; ).
Just so to finalize, we are going for this version #628. Just that I notice the left end of the horizontal stroke in A is spaced slightly too far from the slant line. It should be the same as the right end. Just this tiny correction will do :) Let me know if you see what I see or you need me to draw it out.
Is it my eyes or the low res, but the left end of the small horizontal stoke inside A looks like it's further away from the slant line than the right end. In the earlier version #623 the left end is same distance from the slant line as the right end. Are you seeing what I'm seeing?
I still prefer this to the rest of the new ones. I just find the letters look a bit too tall so the proportions are not very comfortable, perhaps a little bit shorter still?
You are right about those brands :) but I guess they are mostly fashion brands. Our business is rather diverse so I rather go for a most general look :)
Thanks Santi! I like this among the 3. I find the letters look a little too tall for me, can the height of the letters be shorten a little so it looks more sturdy?
Jejeje I think that depends on the brand a few examples are: Vogue, Hugo Boss, Tiffany & Co., ZARA, Honda, Alexander McQueen, Dior, L’Occitane. Nevertheless I just uploaded 3 options of the idea of color division, I personally think the more balanced of the 3 would be the one with the line all the way through. Let me know what you think ; ).
Just a thought see what you think of going with a serif font with the letters joined something like this #618 I think the serif gives the elegance and the joining the modern touch. Let me know. I'll see your link now ; ).
In the one version that everything is joined up, I still find the logo a little too funky, it doesn't look corporate enough, what do you think? Any way around this?
Perfect I am uploading 3 different options now with and without the license plate so you can se both options. I personally like the last one the best were all the letters are touching and I took the point off the top of the A. Let me know. Cheers, Santi.
The previous attempts when you tried to join the letters up, we also find that it is too funky, it looks like some rock band logo, haha. But we are still going for the more corporate look so not too funky please. Imagine logos like Samsung, Supreme, etc. They have some creative treatment but are still serious and formal. We have a lot of corporate clients so we need to instill corporate trust.
I think we can just do away with the words for good even for the license plate. We find there is really no way to make them readable when small haha, so maybe less is more. For the license plate you can decide whether you wanna put in the ESTD we are fine with or without but if you put it in it has to be a lot bigger to be readable. A good size reference is the size the logo submissions show up in logotournament (not sure whether your interface is same as mine), but it shows up rather small before I click on it to expand it, it is about the size of my thumb. At this size, any thing that can't be read will have to go :)
And I meant to say we also hope the FEAT word could be used alone when a simplified logo is required like in a black and white poster when the whole license plate would look too attention-seeking and therefore the FEAT word alone should also work (without the ESTD and the 4 words below).
Hi Dash, yeah its 12.20, good night over there, jejeje. Perfect on the reference will work on that ; ). Yeah I can do 2 versions one with and one without so depending on the use you can use one or the other. Let me work on it and upload ; ).
After very a many discussions and feedbacks we think maybe it's best to do away with the 4 tiny words below, as the words are long so it is hard for you to fit them in without them being too tiny. Sometimes our logo may be used small like a watermark at the bottom corner of a video and those tiny words will become unreadable.
On another note, if I'm not mistake on the selection stage, first ranked can still upload entries, so I'll work on it some more tomorrow. If you have any suggestions or want to see certain changes just let me know ; ).
Hi Dash, how are you? Ok sure thing, I just uploaded the last version without the license plate just white on black so you can see how it looks. The canvas size in LT is 350 x 280, facebook logo size is 360 x 360, instagram 180 x 180, etc just so you have a reference. The actual words on this last one are 168 wide. Let me know if anything, Cheers, Santi.
Hi Santi, give us a few days to consider as we find the logo still can't work very well when it is small :) If you have any ideas around it can let us know. Thk u :)
Hi Dash perfect, I know what you mean, if you look at version #535 i thinks that is what you mean right? Where you have the F and the E joined at the top, the E and the A at the bottom and the A and the T at the bottom. Let me know. Cheers, Santi.
Feel free to try out how the connected letters may work. If possible, show us variations as you go along as well like previously. We love to see these interesting possibilities. Thanks and have a great day ahead!
We are hoping the word FEAT can standalone as a wordmark logo as well when we need it, as this full design cannot be used in cases when logo is displayed small, as the small words at the top and bottom can't be read, but when we tried photoshopping out the word FEAT in your sample it looks too plain alone just like 4 typed out letters without much design elements, so we thought about joining the letters to create some design meaning. Like to hear your thoughts and ideas :)
Hi Santi, do you mind helping me try one last variation based on this one, with the F and E joined up and A and T joined up. I am imaging A and T joined up at the bottom with a horizontal line like E and A, not just touch like we done before. What do you think? I am imagining the joining up could mean our four scopes are interrelated. Liking your aesthetics so far, thanks!
Thanks Santi! Is this #606 the one that is same as before? I think I still like this the most. Let me choose this as the winning entry first, while i consider your two other variations.
Hi Dash, sure thing I am uploading 3 versions of this one with the round drill holes and a few subtle changes, the first is the same, the second one I made the F and T slightly wider which I think balances out better and the third based on the second but with a tiny slash between the E and the A at the bottom. Let me know what you think. Cheers, Santi.
Thanks for trying out the new designs! Still liking this the best so far. Think we will probably still go for this one ultimately, if nothing more interesting shows up :) Can I have an updated version of this for final confirmation, keeping everything the same just removing the gloss and changing the drill holes to circular. Thank you Santi, we had fun working with you and hope we can work on more future projects together!
Yes these two fonts please. Thank you :) I think we can take out the gloss, just make the entire logo the color of the lower half of the gloss line which is more saturated, thank you :)
We would see this as a symbolic representation and not the real thing. But it can still be printed on products like a real bar code. Just that you can tell it is a symbol and not the real thing :)
Hi Santi, we are back to work :) If we go with this font, are there any ways to make the words above and below bigger because they are really small now compared to FEAT.
Ok, left you the comments I have for the 3 shortlisted ones. I have to sleep it's almost 1am here, the 1st round is ending soon so if you have other ideas along the line of the 3 shortlisted ones do send me as well I'll check on them when I wake up! Thank you Santi :)
Hey, perfect yeah I think the estd looks good, sure thing on the font, I just uploaded a totally different concept, but let me work on the font for this one ; ). Cheers, Santi.
Hi there, just saw it! I am fine with the splitting of 2017, i think it looks cool. Overall, it feels a bit better now but i still don't quite like the font for FEAT, any other possibilities? For the bottom, does separating with dashes work or do you think the vertical bars work better?
Hi Dash, its fine no worries, I just uploaded a revised version, no slicing, I think your right it worked on the other entry but not on this one. Yellow background custom font and split the established like this: 2 0 ESTD 1 7. It balances out quiete nice. Let me knwo your thoughts. Cheers, Santi.
What are the feelings you want to convey with the slicing? Right now it doesn't convey very clearly to me. To me, it has potential to show two things: Mystery n being cutting edge. I see the potential but it doesnt convey that well yet :) See if u r able to putting more meaning into the way the slicing works, if not then maybe we could rethink if we need the slicing or not. Sorry to bombard with a lot of thoughts, i dont the luxury of communication time here to discuss point by point, so i will just throw everything in. Sometimes not all points need to be addressed :) Sometimes addressing one point solves the prob for the rest as well. So just see what you can do knowing my concerns, thank you Santi
Hi Dash unfortunately, I can't put several options on one canvas but I'll upload several entries! Gloss wise I see your point! Will work on several options and upload them ; ). Colorwise that's what I had thought create a logo dynamic enough so depending on the trend you can change out the color!
As our working hours are totally opposite of each other, i will juz bombard with several possibilities tgt, appreciate if u could show me a few variations at once if there are so we could proceed faster given this out of sync timing. I find the words below easier to read previously with the dashes in between. For color wise, i would imagine it can be changed for every use so the composition has to be cool no matter the color choice, so for easy comparison perhaps let's keep to the same yellow as before. Also i find the gloss treatment (diagonal line across) makes it look a little too photorealistic and less like a logo.
Jejejeje, yeah it makes sense, let me work on it some and get back to you see what I can come up with ; ). Side note whats your name, I hate starting to write without directing to someone. Cheers!
Ok it might be a little hard to understand without the EST. I think the EST might be necessary pardon me. Right now I still find that it is lacking punch, sorry I don't know how to describe in more specific ways :) It looks realistic and that's all the feeling it generates in me, without a "wow that's cool" :) I find the overall design still pretty safe without aiming to stun. Would it be possible to now break away from this naturalism and alter it in ways that will make the design stand out. I mean it is still a car plate that can be produced in real life yes, but can this car plate be more of a unique design rather than just following a US car plate design entirely. It's like if a company uses for e.g. a "DO NOT CROSS" sign as a design motif, it usually wouldn't be the exact same thing in real life, they will usually alter it a little e.g. using a cooler font, imagine it in a diff color, rethink the framing, etc. so it looks a bit cooler than the actual thing and yet is still understood that it is based on the actual DO NOT CROSS sign. Do I make sense? :)
Just uploaded with the Arts to Art change and without SEA also added a gray background so you can see how it looks on dark version too ; ). Let me know if anything else. Cheers, Santi.
Hi, ah ok perfect will change ; ). SEA, South East Asia, the idea was to put Singapore abbreviation but is SG and looked off balance. Will revise and upload. Thanks.
Hi there! Looks great :) Only thing is A for us stands for Art without an s. Also wanna clarify what the word is after 2017, i cant tell bec of the low res :)
I'm having lunch break now just typing in ideas as they come to me. What do think of trying out a version with a higher height, as some car plates are taller with respect to the length. Then we can have FEAT in the middle and the words fashion entertainment on top and art technology below. Do you think the words can fit?
Yeah its the shadow and glow, give me a few hours or until tommorow, here its 23hs late already, I'll see if I can squeeze it in today if not tomorrow will all the details ; ). Have a great day, cheers, Santi.
Oh so its the shadow, i thot so but not v sure :) i tink it's better with the shadow if i imagine it correctly as cant see clearly here on this low res. I saw the pure yellow backgrd ver but i still prefer a full license plate concept. Could we try making it like a real actual signage template, with the drill holes? No need the nails, juz transparent holes that backgds will show thru? Can we also try one version with EST. 2017 as car plates usu also has other words to connote the place, etc.
the bevel, shadow and reflection look ugly on this resolution. I just uploaded a revised version with no shadow or bevel so you can see how it looks with no effects. It is the US license plate font. I will also upload another version without the plate itself just the font on the yellow background which I think actually looks trendier.
Hi there, nice try :) This font looks like there is some tapering on the vertical strokes of F and T. I dont quite like the tapering as it looks a bit cartoony. Is this is the actual US car plate font?
Perfect will do let me just see how it looks with 4 letters and try and make it cool like that, if not good place to start if something else should go on there.
Although we're in Asia, but I want to create a global look. Best is it doesn't look like a specific country's plate, but still looks like a car plate when we see it :) If u need some other things to put on it, we started in 2017. Can have this number on it as well if u see fit. Thanks.
I think the color choices and fonts should be up to the designers for that is what we do in the end work with these elements all day, jejeje, the idea is to be able to interpret what the client wants ; ).
Oh i don't need it to look like Singapore license plate. As long as it looks cool. Singapore car plates aren't cool haha, wait let me find some references for you...
Really? You find the brief interesting? I don't know if it's too abstract, as I am using a lot of descriptive words while many designers would want specifics like color, type of font, etc. Appreciate you liking this kind of brief :)
Yeah I am looking into the actual font used in Singapore license plates, from what I gathered most use the Charles Wright number plate typeface, the thing is I think with just 4 letters it might look kind of odd, but give me a few minutes and I'll upload it ; ).
For the car plate idea, u can make it into a real license plate, unlike the Divert version which is more abstract. I imagine a logo like that could be produced as a corporate merchandise.
Jejejeje me neither, but its a contest site and that happens, I mean as you mentioned it's good to be versatile but the final decision is based on the clients taste I guess ; ).
No prob :) I don't know why your 2 aforementioned logos didn't win. Especially the November one is so much better than the one they chose.
For my logo, my priority is to make an impact. I need the logo to stand out among the conventional logos :) Thank you so much for your efforts, really appreciate your zeal and creativity.
Yeah it took me a while to get the cuts just in the right place to try and keep all characters balanced and equally important. I think as you mention the intrigue aspect and balance on the second one works best ; ).
Hi, thanks for that I really appreciate it ; ). Sure thing on the car plate, let me work on it and see what I can come up with! I try and adapt to each client depending on what they are looking for, but again appreciate your compliments. Give me a while and I'll upload the car plate idea ; ). Cheers, Santi.
I think this doesn't look as well as the original. The sense of mystery is lessened. Sorry my mistake haha! Let's still keep to the original for this design. Unless u still other suggestions :)
I like this slicing effect as well, it is simple and elegant. The only thing is that it is not striking enough yet. It may get lost among other logos, and don't leave a lasting impression after seeing it. Your design for November is also b&w but it was v v memorable. I think you're a really versatile designer in terms of style.
I browsed thru your profiles, and I think you have great promise and some striking works in there. I especially like your designs for Divert and November. They are simple, memorable and attention-seeking. I originally had an idea of the logo as a bright yellow car plate so I was so surprised seeing the divert logo. Do you think we can attempt a car plate design for FEAT since Divert did not choose the idea ;)
Can we shift the cuts for F and E slightly so that each letter is one piece instead of 2 for F and E. I want to make it easier to install the words for signages :)
