BC, thanks for your contributions, and your obvious attention to the brief. I think overall my favorite has to be #23, although the image looks a little blurry. He's definitely the most dapper and classy of the dogs and I like the more squashy text.
I'm not generally a fan of the curved world/ground - in this case it's a neat solution for the scale/arrangement, but I'm afraid I've seen too many companies try to use it not to feel it's overused. I would like to see options without it.
Also, how hard would it be to make the dog from #19 a little more realistic? Much as I do love Mr. 23 I'm not quite convinced that a cartoon is the way to go.
Thanks again - looking forward to seeing what else you come up with! Ashley
Thanks for the feedback! Funny, I missed your link in the project description to the bulldog, but just thought it would be fun to draw one today. Glad it worked out and everything is a little cuter with a monocle.
I will be working on: - Update the colors on #29 to make them a bit more crisp. - Come up with another solution for the curved line. It was clean fix to give the pup something to plop down on. - Work on a bit more realistic pup.
Thanks for the realistic dogs - they're great, but #25 is just so brilliant. Just wondering what it would be like if the "Fat Puppy" text on #25 was a less wide?
The whole idea behind it is really based on the phrase "Fat Cat" .. you think of a well to do, cocky, sly feline. But, we are poking fun at it a bit because puppies are not cocky or sly.
I'm very impressed and pleasantly surprised - I didn't think you could come up with something cuter than #25, and you have. I really love the new dogs. So interesting, too, to hear your angle on it. I hadn't thought of that connection, and yet that totally unexpected take brought you closer to the right feel than many who interpreted the name more literally. A good lesson about creativity in design, I guess. :-)
I'm at the stage of running the leading designs past some fresh eyes, and someone asked if #76 was wearing a vest or a jacket. I think the answer to that is no, but when I looked at it again I do agree that maybe it could be lightened up.
Ok. From a font perspective I like #25 and #73 the best (I realize some others are the same as those). The shorter height and slight sense of space between the letters are appealing; I think because it softens the feel. Yet it somehow doesn't seem just perfect - and I'm sorry I haven't been able to pinpoint why.
Some alternate options I like - I tried to keep it to ones that might be readily available:
Garamond Minion Pro Hightower Not sure about the availability of these: Adobe Jenson Pro Caslon Rough (This was probably my favorite) Beaufort Extended Regular (and most other non-italic styles)
You can use these or others you know of that might have the same feel.
And "Marketing" should probably be slightly more prominent. We want to be sure they register it on the first glance.
Uploaded some font options. Some you listed I don't have and are around $35. If you decide you want to buy the font in the future I can update it for you.
So here's an idea I don't think will work but, if you'll humor me, I think I need to SEE that it doesn't work. Working from design #100, bring "marketing" up to the same line as the other text and make it the same as the text in #100 is now. Seat the puppy on the baseline and scale appropriately...
Neither #103 nor #104 is exactly what I asked for... but yeah, it's enough to see that it doesn't really work.
#100 still is the best font... #101 and #102 are too heavy; #99 too random.
I don't necessarily love #98's font in itself - and the lines around marketing are distracting - but there's something about it that works; perhaps because it is more dense and makes a better base for the dog?
I agree. I think the scale and weight of everything in #100 is the best. I can also send you the pup's face alone if you ever need it for marketing purposes or other uses that entire body won't work as well at a really small scale (icons, favicon, ect )
Yes, it would be helpful to have that, thanks. A black version and a white version of both the head and the main logo (should I ever need to reverse-print), on transparent backgrounds, would be helpful.
No problem. I can only upload one version through Logo Tournament (eps & jpeg) but I always send transparent .png and pdf formats directly to my clients here.
I will start putting together all of the files now. Shoot me an email to brian@raleighbrands.com so I send you the additional files.
