Thanks very much for the submissions! I definitely like the curl in the G-clef; it's a clef with much more personality than I've been seeing so far. I want to make sure we don't overdo the effects and that a b/w logo for faxes is possible, so gradients, fade-out, etc. need to be minimal (also, skip the glassy effect and related).
The next step would be to get in particular a more cohesive feel with the font/text & the graphic; I'm not sure exactly what I'd want for a font, but something that doesn't look common, at any rate. I'm also open to suggestions, on any of it! :)
My original intent was to have a simple elegant font that didn't compete with the G-clef. Script fonts I found were too busy with this mark. Here are a few more fonts choices. Thanks so much for the feedback
I agree about the simple font; I think even serifs are probably too much. What's the font in #81 like if you use "MusicTheory" instead of the smallcaps? Or: are there more minimalistic fonts that would keep the super-readable look but add a little quirkiness somehow? I'll dig around a little and see if I can find examples.
The font in #81 is Trajan. It unfortunately doesn't have lowercase characters. But I will try to give you some more alternatives. Thanks your consideration
Diavo is the kind of quirky I'd like, but the "devil" feel is a problem (especially in the "y"). Here's an example of a serif font that was made more minimalist for a neat logo http://www.davidairey.com/berthier-logo-design-process/
I don't think we'd want something so heavy ("eMusicTheory" is a much longer name) but I'm curious to see if that kind of style could work. I've been digging around for other fonts, but not sure where to look, really; I'm trying for something that is still clear and clean, but hints at the style of the logo.
I'm not sure if you can copy-paste it in if you don't own this font (the webpage lets you type in example text); if we use it for the logo, I'll buy a copy of the weight (probably Regular, maybe Light?). http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/type-together/bree/ This one also hints at the shape of the "e" in the graphic shadow, which I think would help the whole thing hold together.
Let's stick with Bree; that looks good. Can I see versions with other colors? Maybe Gray/orange and blue/black? The blue/green again? See what looks good.
I'm wondering if the blue/orange might be too bright. Thanks!
Congrats and thanks for the hard work -- I'd like to tinker with the colors a little bit more, but I think I might be able to do that myself in Inkscape or Photoshop (I only have Elements, but I think it'll work).
