Discussion

The note form in #2 and #30 -- the top of the note and flag aren't really capturing the shape -- not that it has to match what you'd see in sheet music, of course, but note flags shouldn't be round at the top.

Nice work on the "e" clef in #31.

I completely with you agree. (in occasion of flags).
Thanks.

An important note on #31: this one needs to change so that "Music" and "Theory" are equal in weight (they could be on the same line or "Music" above "Theory", I think).

There's another company called "eMusic", so it's important that we aren't confused with them! I have been posting notes about this on the general page; I want to make sure you know because that will have to change to keep this logo in the running. Thank you, and excellent work!

Thank you for the updates!
#49 still looks cleaner than #50, though I agree the text should be more integrated into the logo. Possibly altering the letters to hint at the lines continuing? I would like the text to be made more interesting somehow, though it does need to stay clean.
Two other quick things: the line through the dot on the "i" should have a height that matches up with the height of the staff lines, and the slogan should be "music theory, everywhere."

Thank you! I am stuck for now between your approach and the other (with a shadow on the G-clef)... I really like to have some sense of depth, but I don't want to lose the cleanliness and simplicity of a design like yours. I am asking him to simplify his a little; maybe there's some way you can make the G-clef more stylish?

Thank you, and excellent work!

" the text should be more integrated into the logo" - You are absolutely right if to leave easier treble clef without the name this is not clear that such - simply musical symbol. Therefore people should know whose it is an emblem.

Getting there! #74 probably goes too far in the other direction; I feel like now it's losing the strong look of #49.
I like the new "M" and the new "h", though! The "M" reminds me of two fingers making a chord on a guitar. I think you also might have misunderstood what I meant about the "i" dot: it can be like the third note here:
http://www.msvl.k12.wa.us/secondary/mms/musictheory1_files/image006.gif
(but don't shape it like that note -- just a dot is cleaner)

Here are my other suggestions:
* The simpler clef was better (abstract is good); maybe go back to that but change either the bottom tail, or the dash of the "e"? I don't know what to recommend here, but in the new one the "e" is not as clear.
* The 5 lines top/bottom should align with the circle of the "e", then all the (large) lowercase letters (like in #50). Those letter could even be larger. The lines don't have to run all the way through, but that should line up.

Also please make ask more questions if needed, or suggest other things! I don't have a perfect idea in my head, so let me know if I'm just confusing things.... Thank you!

It is not pleasant to me ' h ' (it is necessary to extend upwards a tail) ' E ' (to make small), ' Y ' (to take from #74)

(This comment references Entry #85)

Hello,
Thanks for the updates!
I'm not sure what your comment meant.
I think the "MusicTheory" form is probably better than a mix (in #85).
Is it okay if M and T and "h" extend upward but the rest are in line? Like in #50 but with the new "M".
Also the dot on the "i" should not be hollow; just a dot with a line through it.

#107 is a very cool idea, and well-executed. My one worry is that it has too much small detail in it. I will review and get back to you on this -- I'm not sure if that's a bad thing or not.

If I the winner I shall send all of you variants, and you can always change. Or to make one logo the basic (for documents), and another for mugs.
