The iconography is pretty clear. The flame of empowering spirit rises out of a stylized torchiere (which, yes, may remind one of a certain mathematical symbol WITHOUT actually being that symbol). The purple flame (which has a wealth of meanings thereto attached) unites red with blue and, naturally, combining the strengths of both, rises ever higher as one. Which, I think, is the point of it all.
Yes, yes, I know you're concerned about stepping on the toes of HRC, but this is clearly NOT their "trademarked" symbol - which has very distinctive dimensions not shared by this stylized torchiere.
