Thanks for the new design!!

This style is going in the right direction. The hair is great! We like the movement you incoprorated into it. And although we really just wanted the head, we like what you've done here with the "you" point.

Can you try increasing the realism a bit without sacrificing the style too much? Also work on the likeness to Einstein. The face isn't quite recognizable just yet.

Great work! Thanks!!

Pss .... Can you also play with different capes? This one looks a little too dracula. Thanks!!

PG,

Please see our recent update to the contest brief. Due to licensing issues we must change our name and character likeness.

Name of company is now "Merlin's Stars".

Picture: Make it look half Einstein/ half Merlin. Ie wild hair, but it can be longer. Maybe a go-tee. No tongue out. Tongue is definitely too Einsteinian. Let's add a wand or a fist or a staff!

All other style elements should remain the same.

We apologize for the inconvience. We weren't aware of this licensing issue perviously. We like your design and would like to see more from you with the changes above.

thanks so much!!

Thanks PG!

Like #68, but we lost the hair motion. We really like that element of the design before. It could also use a bit more realism in the character. Thanks!!

this hair?

Yes, but it needs to be incorporated into the design a bit better. The beard and hair are now mis-matched. The hair is moving and has a bluish tint to it and the beard is stark white with no movement.

Also, could you make Merlin a bit bigger and add more detail. See the level of detail in the website we posted: http://merlintwizard.blogspot.com/2009/05/x-men-origins-wolverine.html. Especially the wolfman image. The logo is for a website not a business card, so it can be very detailed. One way to add detail would be to do more with the facial expression. There’s not a lot of facial expression in this design. The goal is to capture wisdom, knowledge and intellect.

The staff is more cheerleader than all-knowing powerful wizard. And the typeface needs to be more professional as this is for a financial services firm even though the logo is trying to be creative.

Thanks for your hard work on these designs!

Thanks for your idea. This is a little too disney. We are looking for an action figure targeted towards 18-30 year old engineers. Imagine an avatar of merlin/ gondoff/ einstein for the next X man movies? What can you do to make your character look like that? An action star that is an older sage. We also want to show this Avatar in motion just like an X man star.

Ponetz,

Many apologies. Ignore my prior post. These are the comments for you:

Ponetz,

I love the action!! I love how einstain goes "outside the box"!!

However,

1) I don't like the "empty eyes" and open mouth. Merlin has compassionate eyes. He is a "mentor" and he does not yell. He is thoughtful. So action does not mean karate expert. He uses his staff and brain, but holds a more regal posture. See gandolf.

2) Please fill in the eyes and remember that merlin is a wise old man. He is like an old tree with bushy eyebrows and a crooked nose. He is not just a guy with white hair and white beard. Please give him the "character" in his face that comes with age. This will give his face "wisdom". So first please get the right character.

3) An old person's "action" is different from a young person's action. An old person uses the energy of the young person against them. They wait for the young person to strike and make a mistake. The older person is NOT the aggressor. An older person conserves their energy. Note gandolf's posture. It is "defensive aggressive".

An older X man also uses their brain over their braun/muscles. This is symbolizes by the wand. Ie the use of magic or knowledge instead of yelling/ running/ etc. Please see if you can capture the action of gandolf (lord of the rings). What makes gandolf so powerful? And intimidating?
