hi! Here are a couple ideas I had - the first one has an einstein coffee bean - the second color would be optional, of course. I also have a version without the grunge/worn/stamped effect, if you'd prefer to see it.

My second entry has a coffee cup with an einstein moustache and the wisps of steam reference his hair. I went with a retro "atomic age" layout with some sleek, modern updates.

I also came up with the slogans "Brilliant Coffee & Eats" or "Relatively Brilliant Coffee" (while the phrase "relatively brilliant" isn't as positive as jut "brilliant", I think it plays with the theme better and that people will understand you're being a bit tongue in cheek.)

Any changes you'd like to see, please don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers!

Hey Josh,

Thanks for your entries!

Firstly we would love to see the grunge worn version as this may suit our cafe really well.

We think the idea with the coffee bean is fantastic, but are unsure if it works for our cafe. Would it be possible for you to take out the coffee bean and put his face in #3 and #7?

With #5 and #6 we don't really think the orange colour suits, can we see it in a few different colours? We also think we prefer Einstein's face with out the coffee cup.

Thanks a lot!

Here are some revised options with original graphics for Einstein's face. If there are any tweaks/color changes/ etc. you'd like to see, please just let me know :)

also, Carol contacted me to say that you asked her to use my slogan. I know a lot of people don't think about it, but - as it's an original concept that I've presented in the contest, it would be considered "protected" by me, just like any original graphic element. Carol voluntarily retracted that particular entry - really nice of her :) Sorry, hope that doesn't cause any problems. Thanks for your consideration.

cheers

Hi,

We did not intend for her to use the exact slogan, we used it as an example as to write something like that under the Einstein's 251. Sorry for the mix up and that is completely acceptable for you to protect it.

We really love #21 and #22, thanks for your work.

Are there any other options for his face? We love that you have put a positive spin to his face, but are wondering if it could be more "lively" as such if that makes sense? (not intended to use more colours though)

Thanks!

Here are 2 versions: both 3/4 view with eyes open and laughing - one with him sticking out his tongue in reference to the famous photo. I've also included a single color on brown to sort of "mock-up" a single color stamp on brown paper

Hi Josh,

Thanks!! We are really liking your work.

In reference to Einstein's face - we like #21 and #22 and #43 the most. Is there any chance you could make his face more easily recognisable as Einstein's (maybe the hair needs to be different of the face more wrinkly?) Sorry if we are being difficult - we know it's hard. And if possible if the face is to the side, as in #43, could it be facing left and not right,

Also can we keep it just at brilliant coffee for now? We love the idea of integrating the relativity but just don't think it brings across the right message.

Thanks Josh,

I understand about the tagline - my thinking was that the pun would supercede the literal translation...and the minor self-deprecation seemed kinda funny - BUT, you always have to account for the customer with the smaller sense of humor - haha.

Here are a couple variations on both versions. I softened the chin, added a hairline to make the hair seem a little softer and added the forehead wrinkles. I also lessened the eyebrows (I was originally looking at a middle-aged einstein - the images had less wrinkles and bushier eyebrows)

thanks for your quick feedback! Anything else you'd like to see, just let me know :)
cheers

Hi Josh,
We agree with you in relation to the tagline. We understood the humour but are concerned, as you said that not all of our customers would get it.

We still love Entry #21 the most. Could you do the same one and just put "Brilliant Coffee" and if you have any other ideas for a tagline, we are also open to that.

Thanks for everything so far.
