Scott, wow!!! you nailed simple, tasteful, and quality!!!!
With this design feel, can you more specifically convey that we make hen coops and/or possibly a little backyard farm? We are more than hens-- in fact-- we don't really sell them, but rather the farm environment.
#41 is better than #40 and #42 looks like we've put an X through-- like don't use them.
Would you try switcing out the chick for your hen? I'm not sure, though, what look to convey here. The chick gives the feel of something growing, which I like, but the hen is more sophisticated-- a look I love, but perhaps too much so? Might I lose those who don't shop at Williams-Sonoma?
#40 ok the feedback I'm getting is that we are selling coops, not chickens. So I moved the coop up. At first, I liked the Sentinel you put on it, but later, I couldn't tell what I was looking at (if I didn't already know).
I love the humor in the new ones you did, but can we turn the humor into joy? The joy of farming?
I've not worked with a designer, so pardon my suggestions if they are off the mark.
I shortened the tagline...long tagline can be to much reading...ideally taglines would be an add on to website etc but not to the actual logo., no worries though if you prefer the tagline short we can keep it in.
Things are looking familiar, please keep that in mind when making a final decision I will do what it takes to make my work perfect for your company, product and identity.
Thanks!! I was stuck in a dentist chair getting a crown redonw and then runnning errands.
So many choices-- the one that strikes me first is the hen and chick in the red barn. The hen's a bit hard to understand because of her neck-- not sure whether you put a beard on her in white (which some have) or if her neck is just a bit too skinny.
But don't do anything until I process all these and then run them by my 'people'.
Please know just how much I appreciate your efforts and input. You are the one with experience; I am just tying to get a logo that conveys hen coops, but gives me the flexibility to expand into all things backyard (classy) barnyard.
Less is more, meaning any of my submission are easily adapted to represent different aspects of your business and growth...by swapping out the inner element for another, if in the remote chance you decide to expand to dog house etc. we can simply change the inner element for the appropriate element.
You are right; #105 is very cool, but my eye is drawn to the solid egg more. But, then it looks like I'm in the egg selling business.
What about changing the window to a little door on the #105?
I agree about the tagline. Getting rid of well-loved, though, loses part of the pet version of hens, instead of food production hens. Just as long as I know where to put the tagline when I want one, I'm happy.
But, I'm still most drawn to your hen and the solid coop. What about changing out the chick for an egg and addressing the neck? Oh, and could you try a version that uses that faded (or whatever- gradient?) silver from the #47 eggshell as the top line of the roof? Or is that getting it cluttered again?
I love the layout of #111, which is so easy to read and can have the tagline or not so easily.
So cool to see you folks at work with creative ideas!
unfortunate I cannot do the hen laying on top of egg inside the red barn it's been done by another designer and LT's designer policy is not to copy other peoples work, unfortunate it's not always followed.
However LT policy also states that we must provide support to CH's (Contest Holders) after a contest has been finalized (applies to the winner of a contest) for a short period of time so that and designs can be tweak etc. I have excellent designer client relations with all CH's of contest I've won and those I've not won.
I'll try to come up with an alternative to the Hen Egg Barn situation.
You made a comment about "not selling Hens or eggs" however design #131 is a clever play on the company name and does not invoke selling eggs. It focuses on Housing/coops.
A logo design needs to be,
1. Clever and intelligent 2. Relevant to the industry while incorporating point 1 3. Appeal to both client and demographic
#131 is all 3, it's fun and different that what's been done so far and I've taken into consider reproduction requirements from web to print.
Oh-- i see that you changed the roof color. I like the silver/grey better. It is the color of my coop roof. But I think I'd like all red with the roof and door trim best.
Well, I wrote a response on my phone that I see didn't get posted-- and the touch screen makes ranking darn near impossible, so I've booted up my computer and will try again.
You must be East Coast, given when your revisions came in :).
Ok. I, too, have been sensitive to the rules, but thought that eggs were fair game. Sorry. No worries on that. What you came up with, instead, is, as usual, quite elegant and smart. I like the hen much more. Thanks for fixing her neck.
#131 and #129-- I'm attracted to squares, not rounds, which is why I still have your square coop image with the hen ranked first. #129 is super creative and captures my coop so well and brings in my name, etc. My red barn coop has white trim along the roofline and around its square door. And I'm in love with your red egg and love the innovative #129, so I wanted to see it in all red, instead of capped in silver. I like the square window, but I'd rather it be a square door, because I don't have windows on the front of my coop.
Sorry for the somewhat incoherent response; as soon as the sun comes up, I'm going to let out the hens and go back to bed. This contest is wearing me out!!-- well, and building coops, a good problem to have.
#140 Try the egg being all red, including the top of the egg, but with the white stripe like you have in #111. so JUST like #111, but all red and the door.
I LOVE #142. It is a beautiful blue.
No need for the chicks on the tagline on any of the designs.
I love the rustic look, but now that I've looked at my website, I see that it isn't rustic-- it is like your other designs. Good heavens; it must be hard when we people have no idea what we REALLY want! Sorry!!
I can't decide which I like better; the red on red or the white on red.
Changing the font does help. It is less corporate, yet still clean. So glad you have an eye for that.
I absolutely dread asking for a revision, but... is there a happy left-of-medium in your designs, or more of the rustic look but in the other style design?
OHH, like your upside down egg over the chick. It's got tasteful humor, but nobody knew anything about what I was selling.
So perhaps just a wee bit of fun. I guess that's not in the middle, because the rustic doesn't imply fun. But something to have it be just a tab bit less corporate? (I see that you pulled the font but no matter. I understand why.) Would that make enough of a difference?
OK. I'm printing several of them up and cutting them out and seeing them that way and running them over to a neighbor.
What happens when the contest ends? Is the order they are in THE final? I know I get to do revisions with 1 designer in the last phase, but just how critical in terms of the points you guys get is my ranking at that exact moment?
Scott, you are absolutely wonderful to work with. Is that what the Gold trophies signify?
