Thank you for your submission. I very much like the following:
- the 'earthling' font; it's fun and playful (see further comments below) - how the 'g' extends below the 'photography' and resembles like a little character or 'earthling' - like the little heart detail for now
Areas for revision: - could the g be made to resemble even more of a character or earthling - for 'earthling' font, would love to see another variation with similar font but slightly less playful feel - remove the thumbprint graphic before 'earthling'; would prefer to experiment with the letter 'e' instead of a graphic; perhaps capital E with an interesting twist to it
I have just posted an update to my brief. Here is a brief summary:
Rank1 1. could you possibly make PHOTOGRAPHY a little bigger in relation to Earthling 2. maybe make the "g" a little smaller; I like it but it really stands out 3. Like: Brown Earthling text coloring 4. but would like to see some variations of colors between the 2 words (eg. brown 'earthling', shade of blue 'photography' like in etnry 4)
Ranked #2 logo: 1. More of: Softer edges to 'earthling' text 2. More of: Prefer no smiley face for personality. Something more subtle. Leaf not working either. 3. More of: Not right shade of green (see the shade of blue in entry 4)
Thanks for all of your helpful comments, I have uploaded another design (#39) for Rank 1 with your the changes you mentioned (smaller g, blue color for photography, photography type larger). I'll continue to work on other variations~
Thank you for following up and taking the time to do additional designs
I really like the design ranked #1, clever, creative and playful. No changes necessary for now. Also got great input from others. Clearly lot of effort went into it.
However, in light of some input from established photographers, I am now going back and forth between the playful and more sophisticated look like entry 2 which might be more appropriate for an older audience.
I have asked for some changes on #2.
I would love to see something along those lines from you if you have time! A little twist is ok. Currently, on #2 I find the font is not that legible
Thank you for the last round. I am very impressed with your style and creativity.
Would it be possible for you to reverse the colors on Entry 46 so 'Earthling' is in brown and "photography" is in blue. Also... - make 'photography' a little bigger - I have grown very fond of the use of the 'butterfly' imagery. Is there anyway you could something similar to that with Entry 46? This could probably replace the heart, but not necessarily in the same location.
First of all, I thank you again for your efforts to date! I feel very fortunate to be working with such talented designers!
Moving, here are few guidelines/requests:
- in your case, I really like the font and would like to keep working with it - although I like the bird idea (it would be perfect for my family/children portfolio) I am looking for a more subtle graphic more suitable to more serious clients; I am slowly getting into head shots for males and females and potentially corporate head shots later - as for graphic: something subtle, not too big or distracting, color matching the Photography font color; fairly soft look to it but not too feminine; has to look good as transparent watermark on photographs and not take away from the Earthling font
Thanks again for taking the time to comment with some very helpful feedback. I am going to work on your project tonight and tomorrow and will upload another design/designs that fit your new guidelines!
another quick note: I wouldn't mind the "Photography" font slightly bigger like in entry 107 and maybe your own spin on the butterfly graphic but much more simplistic than the #3 and not necessarily on letter 'E'
I am also posting a quick update to everyone re incorporating some sort of graphic options that resemble more a person (ie. earthling/human); important note: the character should not be too cute (i.e. smiley face) but rather something abstract yet friendly
I appreciate this is a vague idea/concept and not an easy one; Just throwing it out there;
Last entry 156 is beautiful. Wish so much I could have several logos :)
but it's a little to feminine. Just posted an update; I am focusing on family and weddings right now but need to be able to use the logo on photos for male and corporate head shots down the road and few upcoming shoots.
re Earthling font: I am getting great feedback from friends regarding the font of Earthling!
re Photography font: I think the original size of photography looks better that E reaches down - entry 91
re graphic, it's very interesting but too many elements; would prefer something simpler and incorporated into the 'g' like the bird, maybe the 'e'
don't worry if the earthling graphic is something other than person/character; it can be something very subtle as long as it somehow relates to the Earthling
Thanks again Janice. No shortage of creative options!
At this stage to get things more focused, following are the points I'd like to have specifically worked on:
1. graphic image should be placed above the 'g', as was done in #91, and keep similar proportions to the bird 2. 'photography' font and graphic color matching #107 3. combination of graphics (eg. face+leaf, bird+branch) is appearing too busy; prefer just one element 4. preferred graphic ideas are some kind of butterfly treatment, leaf or an "earthling character". I realize the character idea is tricky but I would love to see any ideas you have on something a bit abstract. The 3rd character in the second row of this image is an example: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32425181/earthling1.jpg
I am glad to hear you are not frustrated by the feedback :) and appreciate your quick responses and patience
Thank you for the character submissions. Please hold off for now on further character graphics. I am realizing that it's a tough one to work with and doesn't look as warm as envisioned.
IF you have the time, I would like to go back to nature graphics
In your case, above/around 'g' to keep it balanced with the 'E'; would love to see some type of butterfly treatment or simply butterfly wings keeping following in mind: - subtle - keep it balanced with E (note in #165 the leaves look to big) - color of graphic should match the Photography; NOT brown - can just be an outline (which would probably be better for watermark)
#179 I do really like the new one! although butterflies are more dear to my heart
The size is good; nice balance with the E
Is it possible to do something that's not directly deriving from the butterfly of #152 but instead have just the wings or shapes that look like wings? a few logos have been submitted involving leaves so my feeling was that butterfly wings are up for grabs :)
Yes, I can do that. If I wanted to get picky, I was the first to do a design with the leaf, so technically that is off-limits, but of course I will not be that way :)
Colors are easy to change, and yes they are not off limits, you specified the colors you wanted in your brief. I'll work on that and send one over shortly~
Re #181 I didn't notice this one with a different direction, facing out - I prefer that one
could you change the color on that one? open to some other shades of blueish but nothing too light or too dark
and one more thing about the PHotography font; I know you have a tighter space to work with but any way the Photography font could be a little thinner? little more elegant looking like in # 107
you have done so much work I hesitate to ask for more. Please don't worry if u have no more time or energy to keep responding to requests. I admire all of you for your patience.
As you know I love your font and have gotten great feedback. I have tried all contestants' logos on my Facebook page and Website via photoshop, and there is something about the #177 and #192 fonts which works better, not necessarily the graphics.
if u are up for it, and want to experiment with slightly different "Earthling" fonts I would love to see more, keeping in mind the following: - I like the nice balance in your current logo font - like how the E and g extend below the photography - like how clean your logo looks - would like to see a more earthy tone - not too swirly - not too plain like #201 or #157
#234 - great colors!! really like the P as it stands out - font much better; need something a bit more earthy - handwriting type style - can you straighten it out even a little more? - any way the leaf can go within the image between "l" and "g"
- maybe lighter color green for leaf - little less solid - and leaf resting above or on the "n' - maybe outline of leaf (would be better for watermark)
THANKS so much for still submitting! It's so much appreciated
- like font BUT - something about the E not working - maybe little more like E on #234 or #177 - without any swirls or that straight line on top - also can the font be a bit thinner?
