Thanks for the submissions so far! We'd like to add that, although we realise a good logo should work against any background colour in this case it will go on our forthcoming website against a plain white background, so if you could supply submissions against a white background it would be appreciated :)
We imagine that something with a small iconic image separate from the text would also be good. For example we saw this on iStockPhoto:
Please ignore the black rounded box and look just at the main graphic of a stick of dynamite - it's that type of thing we're after with some text that kind of fits the image.
Note: we'd prefer block colours rather that images with gradients, 3d effects, etc.
We're looking for something that clearly refers or is iconic of dynamite but also something cool, modern and funky. It's hard to describe but things i'm sure will become clearer as the submissions come in.
We like what we see so far - we like the iconic ones where we can take just the element or parts of the element outside of the logo itself and use that as branding as well as the whole of the logo itself.
We like the sort of slick comic book-y type of look of #20. It's the shape of the dynamite image that's doing it for us. Not yet 100% sure on the font, but there's no doubt it works. Maybe something like this on :
We're not sure, open to suggestion. We like the crispness of the b/w, but we think it may need some colour. Red seems obvious, but not in such a quantity of the whole stick in red. Maybe just the spark? Again, open to suggestion.
Also, please could you invert it and put it against a white background?
We like the legibility of 11 & 12 (the word DYNAMITE doesn't seem as legible in uppercase as Dynamite). However, 11 & 12 use a bomb as oppose to a Stick of Dynamite which we are interested in. Shame as they are great designs.
We definitely prefer a very simple dynamite 'stick'' shape (i.e. no complex sparks) and really want a logo as simple as possible and now think the legibility of the text is quite important.
We love the colour of #1 and #2 - bright, colourful and friendly, yet still elegant. The font is ace too. Much more modern, sophisticated and easy-to-read than the previous, mostly uppercase and blocky entries' fonts.
Finally, we were very surprised - we'd got hung up on the idea of an image of a stick of dynamite, so for entries to appear (#1 and #2) without that image and yet to still impress us is great We're not saying a stick of dynamite is out of the question - very much to the contrary (we still feel it could perhaps work the best), but the current designs #1 and #2 just look bright, colourful and cheery. Great, and thank you all for your submissions so far! :)
Mary123 your #68 and #69 are nice but your #70 and #67 are too close to Brad2's entries. and #71 is Dorsey's concept, I know its a very narrow brief but that just makes it more important too try harder to be original or go beyond the brief. Just my opinion.
@Paull: We actually noticed the similarities between #48 and Dole right away. It's something we're considering at the moment and, to be honest we haven't entirely made our mind up yet as to whether it will be the final choice. The similarity isn't ideal, but apart from that we think it, as a logo, looks good and sends out the right vibe. We still really like the shape of the Dynamite stick in #20, but there just seems to be something missing when compared to #48 and #47. We think it might the colour, but we're not sure. Maybe a stick of dynamite is a little too obvious? We're not sure!
@bluejet: we agree entirely, thanks for the comment :)
