Is there a reason for the open space at the bottom of the arrows pointing up? Visually the triangle above the "SO" is grabbing my attention for some reason.

I do not have any specific concept which uses that space. Would you like to reduce that space ?

My suggestion
In both the following designs, I chopped of the top most pine to make the logo compact and symmetrical, which will be help in printing purposes with regards to space required. And i have made the edges more refined and horizontal. There are two shades of green which you can choose from
