Thank you very much for your designs! Of the two suggestions I like #6 better as it has more colour in it. Do you think it was possible to somehow incorporate nature into the designs? We do research on various species ranging from insects (beetles, ants, butterflies, for example) to different mammal, bird and fish species and plants too. If the variety of life was somehow shown in the new logo it would be great!
Also it would be important to have the long version of our name in the logo as LUOVA is an acronym of the Finnish name and if our students go to international conferences having the long name in English would be very important.
Today we had a look at the designs together with the head of the programme and she liked the idea of your design #5: the light feeling of it and the line illustration. Would you be able to continue with that idea (#5) so that instead of the three lines there was an animal made with lines? We were thinking about the bear which is Finland's national animal.
Or as another line of idea we would be interested in designs that illustrate the variety of different species from all the way from insects to bigger animals from all different living environments (land, water and air).
If I may complement your previous work, your Skeeter Bug photography design (client rank 3) is very beautiful. Nice font, simple and light.
Hello, thenk you very much for your ranking and your feedback. I've just submitted a new idea with a bear. Please, don't hesitate to ask me for any modification you need
Gracias, these are both great! Could you still try what they would look like if the text was (forest) green and the bear itself brown (like the brown bear)? I worry a little that the first impression of this very nice blueish colour would be the polar bear. Green and brown would probably be a bit less arctic.
And could you also add the long version of the programme's name: Doctoral programme in wildlife biology research.
Oh, and another idea came to my mind! (Sorry about the many postings...) What if in #22 the text was black as it is and the circle too and behind the bear there was a green line that looked like the silhouette of a spruce tree? Could it work or would it be too much already? That way it would be obvious it was a bear in a Finnish forest instead of an arctic environment. But on the other hand I would want to mess up the beautiful and simple design...
Thank you for the new designs! I have a busy day at work this morning so I don't have time to rank all of these this morning. We have a board meeting this afternoon and we'll have a look at these then. I'll get back to you after the meeting with the board's comments. The ranking may also chance as more people get to say their opinion.
We have now had the meeting are here are the comments from the board. They liked your abstract idea in #5 and hope to see a another colour version of it with colours that remind of nature (the forest and water) so it would be nice if you could edit that one a little to keep a design without a recognisable image in the contest too.
For the font in general they wished for something that had more modern feeling to it and was a bit rounder. Having the long name on two lines is very good as it is easier to read.
