Desi BeatsLogo Design Contest

Hi there, thanks for the invite to your contest. Attached are my first designs. The concept is a circular shaped 3D icon that is used to represent a portal. The idea being that your channel is a portal to Asian/Desi music, entertainment and information. It's also an abstract representation of a speaker - with the text coming out as though being projected like sound.

It's dynamic and could be used to have ads for programs etc coming out of the portal in a 3D perspective style. Imagine a still image or video from a program coming out the portal to show what's coming up next.

If you were to expand the brand it could be easily expanded for radio etc because the portal doubles up as also representing a speaker.

And also meant to say that the ring colour could change to suit the type of programming that's coming up - or if you expanded into other channels you could have a different colour for each one - thinking along the lines of how sky do it with Sky 1 - blue, Sky Living - Pink, Sky Atlantic - Grey, Sky Arts - Purple etc etc....

Thanks. I was trying to go with something a little less obvious and pigeon-holed than the standard symbols for TV etc - if you'd like to see any tweaks or changes just let me know.

Hi.. is there any way you think you could separate the ring and the text and have the same idea come across?
It would be good if we could have some detachable pictorial from the text.

Hi Gautam, couple of variations that still have the movement through the portal aspect to the design with the words and icon separated.

Hi Gautam, new versions as requested.

#309 shows the design with the TV | Radio | Online words integrated
#305 shows the logo in flat colours with no gradients or effects
#306 shows how the logo could work in single colour black
#307 shows how it could look as a negative
#308 shows how you could use it as a transparent indent to sit in the corner of the screen, overlaying the images shown on the TV. I think channels like Discovery, Watch and Five do it like this rather than having the full colour version on screen

#310, #311 & #312 show the design with the words Television, Radio, Online shown individually.

#313, #314 & #315 show how you could colour co-ordinate the different services by changing the ring colour and text to suit each different service. You could use the 6 different colours contained within the main brand to colour 6 different services.
