What We Do
Defend the Heart of the Fraser is an advocacy campaign aimed at protecting important wetlands and islands in the lower Fraser river valley, near Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. The area provides vital habitat for wild Pacific salmon, sturgeon, and other species of high social, economic, ecological, and cultural importance. The area is also important for recreation and it is being threatened by development.
Target audiences are: local citizens who enjoy outdoor recreation, recreational and commercial fishers, local Indigenous Nations that rely on the area for salmon and other values, and local residents concerned about flooding.
