Good morning. Here are some designs to get started in hopes of learning the direction you'd like to take with your logo. :-) I thought I'd try a mosaic style cross, and then I noticed it kind of looks like a city map within the cross. That might be a good thing?
Thanks Desiree. I like #9 best, but would like to see something similar that doesn't use a cross. Perhaps something a bit more abstract and not necessarily incorporating religious iconography. I don't LOVE this example, but it shows the basic idea: http://impelmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/Northpoint_logo.jpg
Excellent second round, Desiree. On entry #16, I'd like to see the word church kerned to fit the width of Deer Valley above. I like the colors. I still think there is something missing on the graphic here. Can you keep pushing this design? I'm going to get an extra set of eyes on these tomorrow.
Also, please remember that I will need to, on occasion, render this with an all white fill, so the design should transfer well in that respect. Thanks Desiree!
Your profile says you're from AZ. Whereabouts? My wife and I live in Avondale. The church you're designing for is around 39th Ave. and Greenway. Small world.
Wonder of all wonders, the client likes your DV (entry #24) most of all at this point. Any chance you could throw that logo next to DEER VALLEY CHURCH With the text treated like the header on http://www.timberlakechurch.com/ (thick, bold PALM VALLEY with a thinner block font for CHURCH). The graphic should be the same height as the lettering, or just slightly larger.
Any other variations on this theme would be appreciated. The uber simplicity is what the client likes best.
Color-wise, can we shoot for the palette you used for #16?
Yes, I just uploaded a couple of versions with the logo closer to the height of the text. My concern with it being EXACTLY the same height as the text is it looks too similar to the D in Deer Valley and the lack of difference makes it a little confusing on the eyes. I did upload one version where I just went ahead and replaced the D, but I'm not sure if that's the best idea either.
I think #66 is the best 'size' for the logo while next to the text.
Also note, I switched the colors in DEERVALLEY so that DEER was the lighter of the two blues and that also provides more separate from the logo with it at a smaller size.
I'm just uploading more ideas as they come to me. I kept them in a vertical layout (with logomark on the top) so you can see it better. One thing to keep in mind is, it's standard practice for we as designers at LT, to provide you with both vertical and horizontal orientations of your logo, along with color and file type variations.
So, whichever logo your choose, rest assured you will have both formats for your varying purposes.
