What We Do
DC (which abbreviates "Donkey Cup") is a reunion golf tournament held annually by a small group of Georgetown University alumni to raise money for a scholarship fund. The event is not publicized beyond a small group of participants, but each year we create logo apparel to commemorate the event. So the target audience is a small group of about 20 to 30 participants in the event, and the mark will most likely be updated each year to indicate the year or # of the event. The upcoming event is year 15/ XV.
Color Preferences
The primary use of the logo will be for apparel (golf shirts and jackets) monograming and also t-shirt printing, so we need to keep it relatively simple, especially to work as a monogram style logo, though a more complex design is possible for t-shirts, etc. The audience/ participants are all Georgetown University Alumni, so Georgetown Blue and Georgetown Gray (you can find those online) are the ideal colors.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
This tournament is in its 15th year this May. It was named the Donkey Cup affectionately after a participant. There is an actual "Cup" trophy (The Donkey Cup) that is passed back and forth between the teams to whichever team wins in a given year. The two participating teams are called "The Mans" and "The Dudes". The Mans team represent more of a preppie culture, while The Dudes embody more of a laid back/ regular guy vibe. In the past the Dudes have used a Big Lebowski silhouette mark on some of their own team apparel. Some sort of capital "DC" is an essential element of a mark, after that an indicator of the XV, 15, or the year 2019 is also important. We do not want the words "Donkey Cup" spelled out as full words on apparel. Other visuals that could be interesting to incorporate as options: a Cup/ Trophy representation, a tasteful donkey head or silhouette, something indicative of the two teams (Mans and Dudes) going head to head, or possibly even a Georgetown (Hoyas) bulldog mascot.
