What We Do
The Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) promotes the economic development of Dayton, Ohio (including Montgomery County) by working to increase visits from tourists, and business travelers. The CVB promotes all there is to see and do in Dayton, and also provides services to assist planners with corporate events, festivals, youth & amateur sports tournaments, etc.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Unlike many cities that are undifferentiated, Dayton truly has something it can own in the aviation heritage/legacy. That said, the community has perhaps relied too heavily on this history in the past. The Wright B. Flyer airplane is symbolic and iconic, but using that symbol/likeness can give the impression Dayton's legacy is "old news/history" - the CVB would like to see a more modern take on aviation (keep in mind, the logo should not look like an airport's logo). Using the image of the wright flyer plane may not be altogether wrong, but it will need a more modern twist and fresh/vibrant feel. We are also interested in seeing ideas/treatments that try to capitalize on ideas taking flight - or logos that give a "nod" to aviation without showing a literal take on an airplane.
Finally (IMPORTANT): the logo does NOT need to include the full name of the CVB - the logo should primarily focus on the word "Dayton". That said, upon approval, a version will need to be developed by the CVB that includes "Convention & Visitors Bureau" - so please keep that in mind when designing.
