Hello!
To this point we have selected you as one of the five finalists. To help you shape the designs further, I offer these points about Who we are and what we do:

We are a comprehensive financial planning and asset management firm.
The nature of our business is working with real people and real problems to create ways to fulfill their dreams and aspirations. We do this through a process of counsel, guidance, planning, implementing, and supporting.
The theme of our business is to build upon traditional and foundational financial planning, savings, and investment concepts (building blocks) through fresh, innovative, and modern methods. We build upon the “old” while utilizing the cutting edge opportunities of today.

Our logo should be secure, confident, straightforward, clean and represent the connection of the old and the new. Hopefully this will help you in creating alternative logo designs.

I chose you for the top five because I like your work with other logos and I like the clean, simple, modern look for #116. This logo, however, does not quite represent what we stand for, so I am hoping you can come up with logos that better match the description above. It is not necessary to use "DFM" or a "D" in the logo although you certainly can. I'd like to see the color stand out a bit more without being too showy. Perhaps a brighter blue. We encourage your creativity in offering alternatives to #116.

Thank you so much for your work and skill.

Hi Curt, thank you so much for the feedback and the chance to submit new entries.
Here's the entries that emphasis on the idea of investment :
#179 #178
building blocks with the swoosh symbolized process

wordmark style :
#181 #180 - clean & simple approach. With the swoosh on the A moving upwards to the I, present the idea of process and financial success.

Hope you like my new ideas. Thanks.

Thanks for your latest entries!
Prefer #180 and #181. Looking for another option to the swoosh for comparison. Each logo should tell a story and say something meaningful about our firm, while combining elements that are central to what we do (see previous post). An example might be combining solid and safe with new and innovative. Example: a digitally pixelated (new) column blending into a solid column (old) might well portray this combination. Example: http://www.midwestwealthroselle.com/ (this is just an example - let your creativity pave the way) There are other combinations that could be employed as well. Characteristics such as “people,” “goals or dreams,” or “help” (these are examples only) could all be used to tell a meaningful story about Davis Financial Management.

#179 Looking for an option using this concept, but changing the logo to a D as watermark BEHIND Davis Financial Management. Example: http://www.gerrityandco.com/

In addition to the blue/grey color scheme, please try this option: taupe/ grey/ black/ brown

Thanks for your feedback. I was thinking the watermark style in handwritten font actually.. I did one, but I didn't submit afraid that's not what you are looking for.

The contest is already in judging mode and I cannot submit anymore entries unless I'm at #1 ranked.

Thank you.

Hi Curt. Thanks for the current rank and all the provided feedback. I agree with you, logo must tell a story and say something meaningful about the company. Your idea of digitally pixelated idea is very genius. It absolutely tells a story like how you explained. Here's my version of that idea #210 #213

If you go through my portfolio, you can see most of my entries are very clean & simple approach. I apply in your contest as well ex #207 #108. Another option of using swoosh #209 each of the swoosh is moving in the upper direction to show process & innovation.

#208 : D as watermark

I will try my best to submit more ideas. Thanks

New proposal - #226 #227
The D inside the box, with the outer shape in black/gray presents old and the inside in brown color as new.
The ribbon moving in conveys the idea of innovative, goals and changes into the "new"

If you look closely, the second and third ribbon with the half line of the D shows the "F" letter and the 3 ribbons is "M" overall it shows DFM in creative way.

Hope you like it. Thanks

Thanks greenlite,

Great concepts

Focusing on #210 and #213 - (prefer #210 right now) can you pixelate the square a bit more fading on left, to solid on right? I like the idea of the old meshed with the new.

these links are not an exact concept, but merely ideas:
no fade, but good pixelation. Perhaps a D in the middle instead of the Apple? there doesn't need to be a solid square, if it doesn't look good. You used 4 squares in # 213.

Thanks so much,

Hi Kurt. Thank you

#229 : pixelate on the left to right
#228 : I quite like this one actually... solid square made from pixel blocks with the initial D on the center.

Let me now what you think and welcome any additional changes. Thanks

Hi Rob,

RE: #229 - I apologize if I am not using the right terms in the design description. Perhaps the better term is comet tail. see: http://techr.info/history-of-windows-logo/ - specifically the Windows 95-98 logo, the second picture in the column of pictures. Of course, I am not looking to copy this old style Windows logo, but I am trying to create the effect of pieces coming together into one solid foundation (ie, the blocks you used or something similar). I envision a dual meaning: 1- The old financial concepts coming together with the new innovative financial concepts to form a solid plan and strategy, as we do with our financial clients; 2- Many personal components of a person's financial situation being brought together in one cohesive, foundational structure. The "comet tail" could be a finer than the inelegant Windows logo, with the same color palette as in DAVIS Financial Management. I'm not sure about brown vs. blue, but please go with blue for now, as I see the color as a quick minor adjustment. Some of your other logo concepts are in play, but I'd like to see if this design I described could work!!

please let me know if I can clarify anything

Thanks again!

Hi Curt.
Here's my version of the pixelate in comet tail style #230 #231 #232
That's the style I can do the best in comparison to windows old logo.
Let me know what you think... color can adjust from what desire.

Thanks

Hi Rob,

I know I am asking you a lot, please know that I am grateful for the extra effort to get this done!!

#230 : Could we straighten out the tail (no curve):
▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪
▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪
▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪
▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪
▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪
▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪
and graduate the "blocks/pixels" bit more, so it is "fades" into the solid blocks? The first blocks/pixel is small (like you have it in #230) and each successive block getting bigger until it becomes "solid?" In #230, you have 3 brown and 2 grey blocks from small to big. Perhaps double the number of blocks with smaller size integrations and perhaps another color to add to the effect. The appearance should be smoother.

Thanks once again for your efforts!

Rob,

As an addendum to my previous post, I am trying to make a final decision as quickly as possible. The other logo I am focusing on is #180. Could we tweak that by using the "Byington" font. I believe that font is more traditional and strong, and will juxtaposition well with the swoosh.I would like to see it in blue, with DAVIS in dark blue at the bottom, transitioning to bright blue at the top edge. I like to see how a line looks between DAVIS on top and FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT on the bottom.

Thank you!

Hi Curt. Thanks for all the provided feedback and working along together.
I was having a bit hard time to do the style based on your 1st feedback. If the blocks fade in straight line from small to big and becomes solid, the result might looks like this #233 I have to add more solid blocks into 9 pieces to get the feel. If in 4 pieces, it looks even odd. Old windows logo had the best composition. I could have do much better but the result always resemble windows logo, which I avoid.

#234 the develop version. As the designer, I like how the small blocks in random position moving into the white space. It doesn't look to rigid.

#235 in "Byington" font
#236 line between davis on top and financial management on bottom

thanks

Hi!

Thanks for the new designs! I believe #234 is closer. I need to ponder this a bit.

#235 / #236. I like the font! The DAVIS should transition from navy blue (on the bottom of DAVIS) to bright blue (at the top of DAVIS), just like your logo for "Functional Health Solutions" but I prefer less teal/aqua. I like the bright blue in "Egan Concepts." Both of these logos are in your portfolio. As far as the color of the swoosh, it looks like the original color you used in #180 is better, but we'll have to see that after you adjust the color of DAVIS. I'm not sure about the color of FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT. Perhaps the original color from #180 as well.

Please place the line between DAVIS and FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT like this:

DAVIS
--------------------------------------
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Thank you! I believe we are very close!!

Hi Curt.
Sorry for the confusion. I was thinking about gradient, but aware that's not what u meant from your previous post. :D

here you go #237

dark blue at the bottom fades to bright blue on top.. less aqua. Swoosh & Financial Management both better in gray.
Thanks.

Thanks for the quick response! #237 much better! The swoosh needs to stand out a small bit more, so perhaps a shade lighter from top to bottom in DAVIS?
Thanks,

#237 - By the way, is "Financial Management" in the Byington font? If it isn't please change to byington. Thanks!

Rob,

Thanks for your rapid response!

#238 -
1. Keep font from #237 (for "Financial Management" only) after all!
2. I like the darker grey swoosh, but prefer the less gradient (more consistent color from tip to tip) of the swoosh in #237.
3. Is there any way to make "FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT" a point size or two bigger, or does is throw off "DAVIS?"
4. Can you brighten the very top tip of "DAVIS?" I am trying to get it to "pop" a bit more. Any suggestion here would be helpful.

Thanks,

Curt

Hi Curt. Here's the version with brighter blue for the top of DAVIS #240 with solid gray swoosh. Financial Management in slightly bigger size.

#242 : brighten the top of DAVIS and make it looks glossy to achieve the pop out feel.

Rob,

Thanks! Fine tune for #240 and #242: can you change the color of "Financial Management" to the same navy blue color that is at the bottom of "DAVIS?" I want to compare to the grey color. Also, thanks for the larger point size of "Financial Management" - is it pushing it too much to make it a bit bigger? I don't want to throw off "DAVIS."

Thanks.

Hi Rob,

I think we are down to the final tweaks.

#246 is blank - was it supposed to be? The website seemed to have some problems earlier, at least on my end.
#243 - looks like #242 with the darker lettering. I believe I prefer this. I am thinking that it may have been the grey that was throwing me off with using "Byington" on "Financial Management." Could I see #243 and #240 using Byington on the "Financial Management" (dark letters)?

Thanks for your patience with my specific requests. We are almost there!

Hi Curt. Yes the website was error last night.. unable to upload entries and post comment

I will work on the following revisions on the financial management font

thanks

#244 (the blank entry) is the version of #243 without the glossy on top of DAVIS

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT in a bit bigger size. I think that's the right size :)

#247 #248 FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT in Byington "bold" dark color. Previous entry I was using byington regular, it looked too thin to put under DAVIS.
Hope you like this one. Thanks

Hi Rob,

Thanks - they look great.

I think #247 will be the winner. The "Financial Management" in #247 doesn't look as bold as #248. I prefer the bold in #248. Can you use the "Financial Management" from #248 for #247?
Thanks,
Curt

Hi Curt. Thank you

Sorry I forgot to change #247 to bolder font

Here's the correct version #249

Thanks, Rob . #249 - Definitely better!

This may be the last tweak: I'd like to see #249 with a lighter grey swoosh, similar to #237, I believe. I want to compare before making the final decision.

Thank you,

Curt

Hi Curt. Both entry #249 and #237 have the same shades of grey actually :)

Sorry - I may have gotten the # wrong. At one point we had a lighter color grey in the swoosh. I like the swoosh #249 but just wanted to see it a shade or two lighter without affecting the consistency. I like the consistency throughout (I DO NOT want it to fade at the ends, like in #238). Is this possible?

Hi Curt. No problem about color changes for comparison :)

here's 10% lighter from the original #251
20% lighter #250

Hi Curt
My personal choice goes to #251
I like how the lighter gray create a contrast with the rest. It makes the blue shades in DAVIS even pop out.
That's my preference :)
