Darby Row

“Darby Row” is named to honor a dog and his man. The man was Father Robert Griffin, C.S.C (1925-1999). The dog was “Darby O’Gill,” several incarnations of a Cocker Spaniel companion over the years during which Father Griffin was a beloved counselor, writer and raconteur on the Notre Dame campus. Father Griffin – Darby always in his company – served as long time rector of Keenan Hall and as University Chaplain. He was in word and spirit a true son of Notre Dame. And Darby -- by his side -- was a worthy member of the Animal Pantheon of the University.
