looking at entry #6, #7, #8, #9 there is potential to for a leaf type symbol; beneath the Bible/pages - especially #6 #7 & #8. Colours of #7 preferable to the red/blue I think. But I am really interested in the colourful pages of #5.
In addition to your cross ideas (which I will be interested to see how my church committee responds to tomorrow - I wonder if you could try perhaps something more symbolic of a person perhaps? whether trying to convey cross/person simultaneously is too complicated I'm not sure - you tell me! :).
regarding leaf design of #4 - I stole the example idea from a logo which I reversed from a G to a D. A capital D has merit because of the D for Dalkeith and D for Discipleship.
