Discussion

hi Lilia-
Thank you so much for your submissions - i find #19 very interesting. It is not at all what i envisioned to begin with, yet i find myself drawn to it. A couple questions, and if you are willing, maybe i could see just a few modifications to get a better feel for how it might represent our brand?

1) is this gradient? the image looks so beautiful on this background, but how do you think it would translate to a white or lighter colored background - what color/s would you use then? Do you think it would still translate in monochrome?

2) the hollow-ness of the eyes is just slightly "off" to me...i'm not exactly sure what to suggest there, but maybe you have an idea.

3) any way the "halo" could be brought down onto the head, more like a crown/circlet? so the image begins to look kind of more like a warrior-woman spirit than an actual angel...if that makes sense?

4) any way to "soften" the feathers/wings just a little, so they're not quite so jagged?

I know this is one of a million things you're doing, so I really, again, appreciate your time and ideas.
Cheers!

hi Lilia-
sorry - one more thing re: color - one of my absolute favorite color palettes is gold/bronze and faded plum OR a sort of misty sea green (i am giving you a link to an album here so i don't have to try to post individual pics)

could i see this same gold gradient coloring on a background in one of these shades? i think these would make gorgeous labels for our gift boxes! TY :)

lmk if that link does not work

hi Lilia-
i'm excited to see! I actually really LIKE the gradient, i just want to make sure that in any printing project where we DON'T have that option, it would still look ok, you know?

and maybe for the background color, we could try something like: #984568 - or even something in the family of #69C2A6?

also, can you do the name as "Cricket & Abacus" as opposed to all caps, if you think that looks ok? (and where do you think the mantra would go if we used it?)

thank you so much again!

Hi Lilia-
If you have a chance, could i see the graphic from #19 on a background of the color you used in #52 (#9AD4CA?) and/or on a background of:#DF95AB?

You're right in your choices, the gradient gives it a sort of "life" - can i SEE the gradient image on a white background? Does it still work - would it be opaque or transparent then? I like the changes you made to the wings and eyes in #52, but i think it lost some of that beautiful detail you put in #19 - (the top of the hair, and the beads at the neck really stand out, like they're 3-D...)

...and i think the crown might make it too "princess-y". Maybe some kind of headpiece just around the forehead, like medieval style (i will try to find a pic somewhere) - i like the halo, but i'm concerned it makes it look too religious-angel-ish, if that makes sense.

I know you probably do a lot of freelance stuff - would you be available after the contest to help me with an ad campaign i will be doing for the new year? I'd like this to be one of the images we use...If you're willing, i can explain more..

thank you so much, again!

hello i uploaded some updates.this gradient is too light so imo it does not sit well on light background. i can make it a little darker and bold but still goldish

Hi Lilia-
yes - i see what you mean - it does show up best on the dark background...and i like the shade you chose, that golden gradient

let's go with the original graphic from #19, but WITH the softer wings, and WITHOUT the halo. Thank you for trying the headpiece idea - but i think it takes away from your image.

and i just realized that my colors #s got messed up because LT thinks that "#" references a design. So let me try that again:

let's try background colors:
1.) chocolate brown, something like HEX 786147
2.) plum, something like HEX 7A3449

if you're using Pantone or something else, i can try to figure out those names

any other ideas you have are welcome - thank you again!

(and yes, i totally understand about the additional work - we'll communicate after the contest, and i'll ask those questions then.)

Hi Lilia-
these are wonderful - i love the color palette of #77 - the dark brown you used for the graphic is really warm and pretty, (i think i like it a little better than the brown in #85.) And it looks great on that neutral background.

i do like the softer wings

I think #80 would be beautiful if i could get it printed (say, on a T-shirt or business card) in actual metallic gold ink :)

could i just see the company name with only the first letter capitalized? like, "Cricket & Abacus" and maybe the mantra underneath? (all lowercase): "find something yours"

THANK YOU!!!
