I like them connected better. Could you make the cloud much larger. Make it span from a little lower than the bottom of the "D" and above the "C". Also can you make it one color, no gradients please.

They are looking better. But unfortunately it does look like a straight up copy of Johnny cupcakes text. Can you try and switch that up a bit.
