Here is my logo for your consideration. I made a constellation of the city of New York, and then combined it with a modern font (with an additional star shape for the dot of the "i" to further tie it all together into one cohesive logo). I will post the wordmark and the logo separate as well, so that you can see how they function as standalones.
If you have any changes you would like to see, just ask and I will provide. Thanks for looking.
Here is a new version for your review. I decided to go with a different typeface to better reflect Professional Women, and I created an abstract 'C' in a similar shape of the 'C' from "Constellation" for the logo icon. I will upload both separately for your review again as well.
Alternate color scheme: a combination of a light, feminine blue and a bold burgundy... keeping it appropriate to the group it represents, without being too feminine.
I submitted some new layouts for your review. Both have the NYC as a subtitle, like my previous entries, making it easy to customize the logo for any other location (or for just "Constellation" without any subtitle). One is in the shape of a starburst, the other is made up of two abstract shapes—one to represent the individual female professional & one to represent the Constellation group as a whole. Both are equally as important to the overall group (and to the overall design).
I think a horizontal layout may be the way to go, as they are more pleasing to the eye & allow for much more flexibility with your logo treatment/placement. (#158, #164)
