I'm wondering if the stroke around the hexagon could match the thickness of the lines being used next to COMSTOCK and ACADEMY. That might help to tie the two sides of the logo together?

You´re welcome! I agree. The art teacher does really amazing drawings! But these work on paper and bigger. On a logo its different. I would do some in the lines we have already: #173. Since its a flat design, simple and minimalist, this is way more flexible for future usage. Or something like these #186 | #187. The topographic lines create the "S" from Steam in a abstract way.

The review group consists of three of us. One of us is the art teacher at the Comstock STEM Academy. She drew a version of the hex which is not unlike what you've represented here.

I'll upload it.

One third of the hex is topographical lines.
One third is a plant - above and below. Stems and roots.
The other third is riverbank. Water, but with some essence of the earth that contains the river.

I'm wondering if you can refine what you have here to include a little more... or if that's just too much.

We don't want a logo that is extremely busy.

Another thought...

In the top left hex, I'm seeing the sun over rolling hills. What if this became the sun over water or sun over water/beach/land, and the lower third of the hex became available to illustrate a cityscape / skyline.

2/3 of the hex reflect the natural world, and 1/3 reflecting an "engineered" world.

This logo is growing on us.

Can we see this with a navy outline around the hex? Can we also see it as a two color using navy and light blue?

I'd also like see it with less saturated, more earthy colors?

I´ve done it cause the letters were aligned in a way it would make sense for me. But I love Star Wars btw, great movie Empire Stikes Back, best film of George Lucas of the initial trilogy.

Bold, for sure! We do need to incorporate "Comstock" and "Academy" somehow. Comstock STEM Academy.

I like this... We have a small group that is reviewing the submissions. One of the people in the group is drawn to the hexagon shape.

Any chance you could revise something like this while incorporating a hexagon rather than a circle?

Comstock and Academy want to be there, but could be more understated. STEM doesn't need to be multi-colored.

Comstock can always be downplayed... maybe Academy can be downplayed as well?

Maybe the shield is a little too "formal?"

We're liking this. Could it be simplified? Maybe less color in the STEM lettering.

Could the icon be more simplified? Less waves? Less color?

Comstock does not need to be as pronounced either.
