...just one more slight modification on all three outer corners, to balance the white,...on this entry I've just slightly more rounded the dark blue frame in those corners to balance the whole thing better.
#224 is a bit sharp in the corner, but this one has a little too much white in the corner. It's subtle... if you can get somewhere in the middle, that's my pick.
I'm glad to be of assistance, since I really enjoyed working on this design, and your feedback was very constructive,...I believe this design is perfect for the academy,...very satisfied with it.
I've just uploaded few revisions on the blue corner,...#223, #224 and #225, wit this corner segment enlarged to be more visible (my suggestion for you).
I'd like to see the little wedge of blue in the lower left corner removed.
Then, I think we're ready to declare this our winner. I'm going to work with the type to create our finalized version, but I don't want to take up much of your time playing around with all those possibilities.
Thank you very much for your willingness to work with us. My team certainly found this to be a good experience.
Here it is. I think I've managed to simplify the whole thing, while keeping the line flow within the cube and inbetween the three segments, making them "work together". Other font options on #216, #217. Thoughts? Thnx
Can you try to remove the elements / lines that make up the circle. The thinking being that the circle in the cube adds more complexity than is needed.
Lose the wedges in the corners, so that the leaf / ripples / terra forms occupy their entire section of the cube / hex.
In doing that, many unnecessary lines will be removed, and we will hopefully have a more simplified design.
This current version might look okay as a 2 meter tall building entrance, but will be that much more busy on a business card or a small social media profile picture.
Does that make sense? I have a sketch I can share if that helps.
...one very simple intervention on basic design, by adding light in negative space in different positions, signifying different things. 1. On blue/water it's a presence of a lighthouse, 2. On orange/land it's a presence of a Sun element, without depicting the actual Sun, and 3. On green/life light shine on a leaf indicating presence of moisture/water, emphasizing the lifesegment even more (basicaly giving it life). Alternative layout on #162. If you prefer emblem form, we can test it there as well.
Note: Some marketing research have proven that presence of light in any visualisation/design, increases positive response to it somewhere between 20-30%.
on this entry there's an indication of the lighthouse, but without obvious representation of it,...light in the negative space also lights up the entire design and gives a bit of positive, inviting vibe.
I've explored few options with light/sun symbol incorporated. On #152 there's more obvious lighthouse element, but you've said the key thing here - we don't want to make it too busy with loads of details, which can make the entire design look like a big blur when scaled down, or observed from a distance (on the academy building, for example),...apart from symbolism, instant visibility/clarity is quite important when it comes to establishing recognizable visual identity - it's crucial thing for commercial brands, but not much less important in this line of work. Practical use of the logo (visual identity) is very important to have in mind at this stage of creating it,...clear lines, nice readability and simplicity in its form is advisable, if you want to stand out and why not to mention, to cut costs of practical logo applications across different media (building signs, print, web, apparel embroidery, etc....).
Hope this little analysis helps. I do have an architectural background and years of experience in marketing and brand creation, so I hope you can take something usful out of all this.
I'm really intrigued with the idea that a leaf can be used in three distinct ways. I'd like to explore this.
We live in Michigan, the Great Lakes State. We have lots of lighthouses. I wonder if including a lighthouse along with the blue leaf/wave could lead people to "see the wave."
Would that be making it all too busy?
Likewise, for the orange, could there ever be a way to incorporate the sun, so that the leaf looked more like a desert dune, or a rolling wheat field? Could you give it texture to look like sand or grass / wheat / grains, etc.?
I've explored this concept a bit more. On this entry, lines on the Land (topography surface) / Water (water surface) / Life (leaf) symbols flow into each other, creating basicaly one connected composition, both visualy and symbolicaly. Might be interesting,...less saturated colors on entry #136.
Yes, it's symbolicaly multilayered, while keeping it visualy simple,...and it works well (doesn't loose symbolic value) even without the color difference, as monochromatic version
...another concept with very simple symbolic elements incorporated: 1. Water - blue waves, 2. Earth - green leaf/meadows, 3. Life - orange wing/s,...classic layout on #98.
I'm here if you want to explore more options. Also made few more fresh ideas, but not technicaly able to upload if not ranked somewhere,...new rules on LT.
I've used up all 5 of my available upload slots at this point,...for further mods and ideas you'll need to rank one of my entries (anywhere,...just put any number on it), so I'll be able to upload more designs. Thnx
Yes. Where the colors are concerned, I think that terra is the color that would want to be orange / terra cotta (stripes on the left side are what I'm interpreting at the "earth" portion of the mark). Leaf is perhaps better being traditional green?

I've still kept it clean, with flat colors in the same tone for each color.

Any chance you could revise something like this while incorporating a hexagon rather than a circle?
