Our Ideas & Additional Information
This logo will be the basis of a branding effort for a new book which will be expanded into other resources such as seminars, instructional CD packages and video programs. The title of the book is Common Sense by Friday: Re-thinking Thinking in a Menu-Driven World. The logo should consist of the four words, Common Sense by Friday. The premise of the book is that menu-driven technology is having an impact on the way we problem solve, discern, make choices and think creatively. The first half of the book will make the argument. The second half will provide practical solutions for overcoming tendency to rely on external cues (menu choices) when the work requires more effort or the situation is ambiguous and unanswerable via a set of defined options.
The voice of the book is practical, containing lots of stories and somewhat whimsical at times. My approach is to say, “We know that technology is changing the way we think. Here are the signs. But what’s the impact and how do we deal with it?” Think Malcolm Gladwell’s book, The Tipping Point, or Made to Stick by the Heath brothers. You can read samples of these books on Amazon.com. The logo should reflect this approach. I want the reader to be drawn in based on this style.
