The "phoenix" idea is very interesting, because my business partner and I were literally just talking about getting more specific with the artists in the contest to use a phoenix in the logo. You are on the right track. Can you try different concepts for comparison?
Hi PG, Instead of being really literal with the phoenix image (its really not working for me to be literal with it) Instead, can we try something like the phoenix suns basketball team logo instead?
I like how the phoenix is represented in this logo...it is not "in your face" as a phoenix image. it is incorporated into the flames more subtlely. Maybe we can get a really cool similar style in some way.
One idea is to use #69 and 70 which have the web 2.0 style we like, but maybe if we can try this idea in some manner.
Hi Pg... yes, great....we are on the right track now. Ok, lets try a couple things. To make it easier to communicate my thoughts......I took yours and adjusted it a little (don't take mine completely literally though because all I did was cut and paste yours to move things round to give you a clearer vision of my idea based on your latest entries. I adjusted the hue a little to get away from orange and more to red in the flames.
Can we try a couple things. 1) Maybe a little more detail in the middle of the flames (just a tiny bit more) for a little more visual interest there...no need to do too much though...just a little more interest in the middle of flame.
2) the letter O in my version looks like an egg rather than an O, but I had to scale it just to give you a basic idea....I want to make sure people know its the letter O so they can read the company name.....
3) Can you try a few versions of this concept and layout... and try one more inline with your #3, and #4. I do like the typography and colors used there. It has a real web 2.0 look which is cool, and I like the more red color rather than orange in that version. Maybe even the flame can have a little more of a web 2.0 look to it.
...but try a few variations if you don't mind. We are getting much closer. Thanks for your patience!!
Hi PG, First of all...thanks so much for working patiently on this. There are two decision makers and its tough getting both to COMPLETELY agree. Both my partner and I agree that the font works great on 92. Nice clean look, polished, tech looking...web 2.0.. looks great!
as far as the phoenix.... I am "ok" with the phoenix, my partner is not feeling it though PG. I know it is very similar to what I showed you so you definitely did what I asked.... but it just "isnt quite working" and not your fault.
My partner;s feedback is that it just isn't looking web 2.0.... it now kinda has an oriental feel again according to my partner. The hard part PG is that I do not know exactly how to guide you on it.... overall...its just not hitting the mark currently.... I really am hoping we can get it nailed down though.
How do we make a web 2.0 techie looking concept of a phoenix WITHOUT being real "in your face" literal with the bird? We want to have a hint of the phoenix concept, but it can and should be subtle.... and be web 2.0 with the gradients....that is what will make it cool. I showed you the basketball logo as a way to communicate the subtlety of it.... but this actual phoenix isn't working after looking at the whole logo...
man, this is hard. I am sure it can be for you too.... but we do really appreciate your sticking in there.
Its subtle, and he likes how it is rising up through the flame itself. ...its not "in your face" Not saying to copy it cause I know there is etiquettte there.... but this may give you some ideas. And dapc had submitted one in this concept that was very similar to this...but we respect the rules and that you had the phoenix concept first...so we want to stick with you as our phoenix guy. maybe you can use this as an idea though
Hi PG... thanks for all your effort. Yes!! 98 and 99 are on target.
small tweaks from here.... Although we do like the current font.... now that we see its coming together, and we tried different ideas, we like a stronger font:
1) this font style seems to work better (See example below). We like that it looks stronger... and like the web 2.0 gradient in the font. Also, we like that the letters are more red. Can we go more this route with the fonts?
2) I think a tiny shadow under the logo (again more of that 2.0 look) would look cool and roughly did it with a copy and paste from one of your other designs
3) I want try to defining the flame a little more.... (I did it roughly in the second example in the link below) ....to give that side a little more depth.
pg...can we have a little more separation in the flames...it currently looks like one solid flame.. maybe a trace of yellow in the flame as well to give it a little more definition...
Hi PG... yep...getting really close!!! at this point...just little tweaks... I'd like the flames to separate just a little as in this example i created from your entry:
And, I liked how you represented a house in one of your other designs...so I copied and pasted the windows just as a symbolic representation.... If there is a better way to somehow represent a house, I am open.... but at least in this example, we can delete the windows if we decide we dont want it later and it wont effect the logo (my partner is away...so I am not sure of he will like that or not.
thanks for hanging in there PG..I know this was a lot of reworking, but I do think we are really close now.
PG.. yes, I like it. I like that change too. Thanks!!! ... let me forward and get the other partner's opinion. it may take a day or so if I don't get lucky and catch him at a computer. He is on an international trip. I will email it to him now.
Hi Pg... Ok, got the feedback.. great news, the design is great, the font is great. Only tweak left is the hues. Can we play with colors a bit to have a little more red in it. Currently, the overall look has predominately a more orange appearance than red.... but with the name and font is red, so the logo should have a little more red too.... Not saying it needs to be 100% red though...hard to tell what works best without seeing it... but .I think variation in the colors is still ok.... but if you could try a few different versions to try and address a little more red. I hate to keep bothering you with this...so maybe try a few variations and we can wrap it up.
By the way... Love the gradients you added to the top flame, and the overall web 2.0 look. Very happy with it!!!
