inspiration: clouds, sky, aviation, logbook, french colors... clean, modern, and professional while representing what the product does... captures that simple visual appeal to fit into a modern web interface with ease...
We really like the idea, the general concept. I would say you are definitly on the right track.
Can you try a few adjustments :
1) maybe do different versions, one with a glider, one with a helicopter and one with a parachute jumper (the purpose of the website is for planes but also for those other sports)
2) try to avoid the look of a "book" . It reminds us of wikipedia and isn't good for the image of the site, we are thinking more of a logbook which in real life looks like this : http://goo.gl/LpxI
3) can you try with different colors ? We like those but maybe as an artist you have a different input on it, if we don't like it we'll tell you to focus back on the current colors
4) I'm not a huge fan of the font, could you try to work it a little further ? few proposals ?
All in all again, you are definitly on the right track this is what we had in mind.
Thanks for the feedback/direction... what do you guys think of using a "paper plane" or something to that effect within the concept as "symbolism" for anything in flight? Just an idea I had that I thought I would share...
Here are some new looks based upon your feedback/direction... I've worked in some new typefaces/colors as well here...
My opinion on integrating imagery other than the plane... Since you user base is going to be mostly made up of pilots I think it would be smart to stick with a plane for the actual logomark - I didn't want to try to squeeze in all three into the mark as I want it to be able to scale well down to smaller sizes for android/iphone app adaptation... I would recommend letting folks know you log more than plane flight via a features panel or something prominently displayed on the homepage of your web interface... I have worked an option here playing off a paper airplane which could be symbolic for anything in flight...
Worked in a couple more options for a logbook... less book-like and more similar in form to the logbook imagery you posted...
Look forward to you feedback/direction from here ;) thanks again for your time.
Quick question, when we officialy click on select winner, can we still ask you to make some minor modifications that we didn't have time to ask because the contest was coming to an end ?
Absolutely... Actually - the person in the #1 spot is allowed to upload variations after the contest ends so I can actually revise from here, then when we have a final you can select that entry as the winner...
If you've already selected me as the winner then we can simply knock out the revisions via email & then I'll upload the finals over here afterwards ;)
Thanks again, just let me know what you'd like to see from here.
