The logo is for the initiative "Declaration for Independence" - not the logo for the city. This is a city pride initiative. While it should incorporate the existing colors of the current city logo, we want something that is a little edgier, hipper than the traditional red, white and blue Americana feel. The logo I am looking for needs a look and feel of its own. The current city logo was attached in the initial contest information. If you are still interested, please produce new creative that has the slogan "Declaration for Independence" in the artwork/logo. As an additional piece of information, the new logo will at times be used with the current city of Independence logo.
Thank you.

I would like to see something that did not include the flag - we have used this a lot locally and I want something that will appeal to a wider, contemporary audience.

The emphasis seems to leaning towards a patriotic theme, while our colors are the traditional red, white and blue, I would like to see something that emphasis community engagement/civic involvement. For example please refer to logos utilized by 1 800 volunteer.org or Handsonnetwork.org. I would like to see some wider variation on the colors - feel free to use different tones of the silver/white/grey, dark and light blues, etc.

Logos # 27, 28 and 29 look too similar to Obama's campaign logo.

Just came from a meeting on this project. We would like to make campaign style buttons that will say I Declared! Please keep this in mind when designing the logos.

I would like to see something symbolizing people, unity, community. The initiative will ask people to go online and "Declare" their Independence by stating how they will support their community through volunteerism, shopping local, caring for the environment, etc.
