To the extent you would like to purchase or better understand the Waldorf Schrift font that is to be used ultimately in the logo, you can find it here:

http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/joachim-frank/waldorf/

While we encourage logo designs that include "Cincinnati Waldorf School" set in this font, we are more interested in the mark itself. Please do not let our ultimate requirement of using this Waldorf font discourage you from competing this contest. It will not be held against you if your entry is made without any typography or simply using a substitute font. We can ultimately update the font after the winner is chosen.

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks for everyone's work and entries so far. I would love to see some explorations of an abstract tree and/or river symbol as mentioned in the brief. Cincinnati is a city that exists because of it's location on the Ohio River which is lined with numerous old Sycamore trees. Also, would love to see some explorations that incorporate or are solely based on the human form.

Thanks for everyone's work and ideas!

Wow - I'm really impressed with all of the ideas that have been submitted over the past few days.

We would love to see more explorations that highlight or involve the human form. I encourage you to explore styles that do not have lots of sharp pointy edges, but are a bit more organic and earthy looking.

Thanks,

Chris

All,

This is still very much an open contest. We are meeting with our core selection team 30 minutes after the contest ends to select a winner.

I encourage everyone to explore and offer their final entries as I believe there is a good chance that the winning logo design has yet to be created.

Here is some of the latest feedback from the core selection team:

1) Explore marks that are imperfect and do not look like they have necessarily been created on a computer. The more they look like they have been created by a person, the better. They can still be simple...just not too industrial or polished looking.

2) We are not tied to purple or grey! :) Please feel free to explore greens and yellows and oranges and browns.

3) Having different levels of delight/comprehension/appreciation for the design is a welcome thing. It may be that only some people notice/appreciate certain aspects of the design after spending a little time with it. (e.g. the famous arrow withinin the FedEx logo)

4) We have not decided that a flower is the best way to represent the school. This is still a question. Continued explorations of trees, rivers, the human form, and abstract marks are still very much encouraged.

I hope this feedback helps!

Best,

Chris

Wow...great work coming in. One other thing I forgot to emphasize: things in threes will be viewed as more meaningful and symbolic that things in fours. This is not to suggest that it has to be three petals. It could be three of anything. In Waldorf education these commonly represent heads, hand and heart of the children.

Thanks,

Chris
