Hi there, here's my entry for your project. I'm trying something a little different rather than the more direct route of communication. I've chosen to create an icon around the buz word - bees buzz and the fly long distances - so I've created a design that uses bees as an icon - but to add another twist, because this is about communication - the bees are actually quote marks which suggest the communication aspect of your service. There's two versions, one uses 50% yellow and 50% black and the other only uses a small highlight of yellow and black. The Z on both is at an angle to suggest the buz and also on the black one it has some shaded z's in the background to add a little extra movement.

#90 looks cool :) can you try some other color options? like 'bu' in gray, 'port' in navy, or both in blue or some other colors. i'd also suggest playing a bit with 'z' - make a shadow look more like buzzing bee wings, well, make it buzz..
my site will be in blue on light gray with some orange spots (active menu item, headers of key boxes, etc), i can change it of cause, but now i like the way it looks. this is why i am asking for this particular colors, and luckily bees coordinate well with orange
one more thing. when you highlited 'z' the logo was pushed out of ballance a bit. i would suggest playing with bees and bee lines to see what works better, don't make it too complicated, perhaps moving bees to the left a bit would be enough

Just noticed your comment about moving the bees over a bit - find these attached. Have still kept them over to the right side of the logo though as I'm trying to suggest distance with the first bee having traveled across the logo. Let me know if I can do anything else. THanks. BMF
hmm.. which one do you like? i like them all :) i would go with #105 for colors. wings are probably an overkill. did you try just making double lines at some parts of 'z'? i would try to make it simple and visible at low resolutions
i know how i will convert it to an ikon later - letter 'z' with your bees as quote marks. what do you think?

#111 looks great, i have to convince my board now. before we finish, i'd suggest to put 'z' back in line, perhaps slightly rotated. decoration of 'z' is not visible, particularly at low resolution, maybe it makes sense just to add black lines on top and bottom of 'z' (or to the sides). please see what else you can do to make the logo cleaner and simpler
couple of technical questions: 1. will i have the file in a format that i can modify myself (i will not have to bug you with all this end less little modifications then) 2. i'll probably need some padding to put the logo on a dark background, what would you suggest?
Hi, no probs, I'll make a few variations and you can choose.
You'll receive the logo in Jpeg format and also EPS Vector format. The EPS file is the master design artwork file that anyone with adobe illustrator (or similar vector package) can use. So you'd be able to make the changes yourself so long as you have compatible software. There's a section on the Help page in this site that explains.
As for padding I could put it in an oval shaped frame if this will help, but i can also created a reversed out version of the final logo to supply to you if you give me your email address. If I win and once payment is received i don't mind sending you color, black & white and reversed versions of the logo so you have everything you might need going forward.
Hi, alternative design attached. Much simplified with the z brought down in line - just a slight angle (I think this looks better than just being straight, adds to the buzz effect). Simple black lines top and bottom - should be visible at smaller low-res views. I've also shown it on a padded background - couple of options here to show how you could put it out of a dark color. Also shown how it would look in black and white for use on fax's etc and reversed out of a dark background (if you wanted to avoid putting it into a padded background). Let me know if you'd like to see anything else. As mentioned, if I win and once payment is received I'd be happy to send you all of these versions of the logo.
