I really like both entry 1 and entry 2. I didn't notice until a friend pointed out that the additional leaves in #1 may give the art work the proportions of a bug. I had first thought pineapple, which also is a symbol of welcome/hospitality. Entry #2 does showcase the butternut leaves/bloom and pod as more flowery. Both do a great job of taking an iconic element of the architecture and distilling it. The typefaces do a nice job I think of conveying a little art deco/period feel while feeling modern and inviting at the same time.
Thank you. Let me know what I can do to make it perfect for you. From what I thought you were looking for a logo rather than an illustration would work better.
Kent, I love #38. Your butternut pod icon is unique and memorable. I would love to see a version of this with no bushes on the right, the addition of the balustrades of the porch on the left and the red brick toned down to more of a dark tan, which is the actual color in person. This is so nice. You have captured the prominence of the entryway, which stands out in person as well.
