Hi Greyhawk,

Thank you for reviewing. I will also be submitting some ideas with more illustrated birds, but I wanted to get a few options uploaded for your consideration.

I made the "B" into a simple little bird and used the aperture for one of the "O's". On #13 - #15, I incorporated the logo as an actual card. For #12 I enclosed the logo within the viewfinders lines.

Your thoughts, feedback and/or changes are very welcome.

Thanks!

Hi Marcelo,

I like the originality of your design with the bird included in the "B". I picked up on the aperture in the "O". I would prefer without the lines or edges as I will be using this not only as a logo, but as a watermark for my pictures once I get the website up and running.

#16 is the basic format that I would prefer. If I wasn't using the logo as a watermark, the card format would have more appeal to me.

I am interested in more the realistic birds. Most of my customers prefer songbirds/humming birds/warblers, Baltimore Orioles which are all perching birds rather than hawks, ducks and shoreline birds.

I look forward to your future submissions. I am shutting down for the night, and will check back in the morning. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your hard work and creativity!

Wow! I just got the last 2 designs! Love that Pileated Woodpecker! I like #18 the best. Just a thought. Try extending the "B" a little higher, so it looks like a tree trunk the he is clinging to.

Thanks!

Hi Greyhawk,

Oops, that's what I had intended it to be (the tree trunk) but you're right, extending it would be better. I'll also be trying a few other fonts. :)

Thanks.

Hi Marcelo,

Wow, beautiful logos and a lot of hard work and much creativity! I also like the humor of the Bluebird with the camera around the neck! I wish I could use all of these. You have a wonderful gift of creativity and artistic talent!

Thank you!

Thanks for the kind words Greyhawk. I imagine that your cards have full color photographs, so I wanted to give you an option representing that. I figured what would represent that better than a Painted Bunting. Please let me know if there is anything you might want to see.

Thanks!

Hi Marcelo,

Thank you so much for the latest logos. The #60 is strikingly awesome and love it. As I envision it as a logo, it would need to be fairly large to show off all the detail. The one with the shutter and the leaves for shutter flanges, is genius!

Yes, my cards are full color, about 4x5 inch photos on parchment paper, I do my own "computer developing and printing". The painted bunting is an awesome bird, but there are none where I live - Midwest/Chicago. We do get a lot of migratory birds - warblers through, hawks, chickadees, cardinals, woodpeckers.

You have a great eye and talent for making graphics zing with originality!

Thank you so much!

Hi Greyhawk,

I just wanted to upload #64, just so you might see what a grey scale version might look like (of course in that particular design the word photo need to be darker, but it's only to give you a visual.).

I been wanting to ask and I keep forgetting. Is there a particular photo of yours that you might like to see as a drawing? If it's your picture that you took then it would be fine to use.

Thank you,

Marcelo

Hi Marcelo,

Thank you for your update and the grey scale version. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I really like all the submissions and such a wide variety and artistic flare! You have a great gift!

In talking with my nephew yesterday (one of those internet and software genius's), he said to keep it to 4 colors. I prefer not to use any of my photos, as I want the design to be simple, so I can compress it down for labels but enlarge it for web site and watermarks. On a shoestring budget, as am not working due to medical reasons. I have seen so many beautiful logos, it is hard to choose.

This is the first time I am starting up a business, and am not that savvy about internet, so this is a whole new experience for me. So much to learn!

Many thanks,

Greyhawk2

Hi Grayhawk,

I assume that your nephew meant 4-color "process", in which case he is absolutely correct. :)
4-color process, is also referred to as full color process. In essence full color is MUCH less expensive than running a 1, 2 or 3-spot color job (about 5x to 10x less expensive). No, not a typo, I did say 5 to 10 times less, because of todays, printing technology. On new digital presses, there are no plates and negative as well the need to mix inks and wash-up charges. (As you might have already seen on my profile, I've also run a print shop for the last 14+ years). As for the size of the logo, fortunately, Logotournament requires that every logo be 100% vector. That is how it should be. Vector files allows you scale up or down without getting the pixilation and limitations of a "raster" file. If you have any question or need clarification, please feel free to ask.

Thanks!

Hi Marcelo,

Wow! Thanks so much for the info. This is a real learning process. My father was a lithographer at GM. He would have found this very interesting. Prior to his passing back in the 1970's, he was also working in collaboration with another printer on developing a quick drying non-smearing ink. Things have sure changed!

For myself, I was in the medical field for 30 years until sidelined by migraines. So, now my photography interest has expanded from scenic to dog agility/canine sports to birding (backyard and in natural settings).

Thank you so much for the added info.

So much has changed, your father would be amazed. Technology has changed things beyond what was thought possible even a few years back. The biggest myth regarding printing is the cost of doing full color. Clients call us all the time asking if we can print just one or two colors in order to save money. When I explain to them that it is far less expensive to print full color they are either shocked or think we misunderstood them and politely hang-up. Within the hour they call us back. I'm sure they called around and confirmed what we told them earlier :)

Unfortunately, even on the design side the myth is still being perpetuated, and I'm sure what is new and innovative today will be seen as antiquated and "old school" in just a year or two. - lol

I understand the migraine issue, my business partner suffers from migraines too. Glad you have an alternate interest which not only is a source of income, but I assume it helps to relieve the headaches too. I love photography and find it very relaxing (unless it's a staged ad shoot, then it becomes work again).

Take care.

Hi Marcelo,

Wow - Every time I think I have decided on what l like, you come up with more awesome logos! You have a great gift and creativity in graphics! You are making it difficult for me to choose! :)

I also want to say that I am very impressed that you (members) do your own monitoring, and have very solid code of ethics and conduct!

Sorry to post this so late, have been down with a bad migraine today

Hi Marcelo,

Thank you so much for your comments and all you hard work and creativity that you put into your logo designs for me. I appreciate all the hard work that you put into them. My only regret is that I can only have one logo from this contest. :(

I will say this: if and when my business takes off, I will be in the market for another logo, and will come to LogoTournament, and start a new contest, and I hope that you will still be active, so I can see more of your great skills in creativity. I also appreciate how this site maintains a code of ethics and conduct.

My nephew told me about LogoTournament, and it has been great.

Again, thank you so much! Someday, I hope to get to photograph a Painted Bunting, but they are a long way from where I live!

Thanks Greyhawk,

Thanks for all the kind words. No worries on my part, Desiree is a great designer. I actually found that I enjoy drawing birds, so this was a fun contest in that I now have a few more birds to sell in my own arsenal. :)

Sorry about the incident with the other designer. LT thrives to be sure that the client has the best experience possible. The community of designers here are (on the most part) are very professional and though we compete against each other, we also lookout for one another as well as the client. Selling a client artwork which they cannot copyright is against LT terms. Unfortunately not all designers have the same moral compass, but they get "found-out" sooner or later.

I'm glad you got the logo you are happy and that you enjoyed your experience here. Feel free to contact me any time (even if you just have a question.) You can also contact me by going to the link on my profile page,

Thank you!
