Interesting thoughts so far...I kind of like the font/design of #5-7 but I'm not sure what the pickmark/icon represents.

#8 is intriguing but i don't like the words "kill" by themselves

Overall, i would like to stay away from images of bombs just because I think they carry a negative image.

though, if we can fit in an "explosion", "growth," "expansion", that would be great

Definition of "boom": To grow, develop, or progress rapidly; flourish

thanks!

#13: I like trying to use the "Boom" element into the logo but it doesn't have enough of a professional edge to it. I like it though and would like to see similar ideas of growth/explosion/excitement built into the logo

#14 is interesting but I don't really know what a plant growing out of an egg is supposed to suggest. I like the "growing" element but kind of confusing

I was thinking maybe we could try and focus on images/pictures that resemble skills/talent/learning. Something that someone would look at and say, "here's a place to learn new things."

#11, #12: just doesn't have that professional, clean edge I am looking for

#18: well done. looks pretty good. There is something missing on the text/font but altogether my fave logo so far.

I don't necessarily want to see a hundred logos now with different "skill icons" but if someone has a clever way of incorporating some skillsets into a logo, i'd love to see it.

thanks everybody for submitting so far!

#18 : just a quick note, not really sure what the green icon is supposed to represent. I like the basketball and music ones...just not sure what the green represents.

#30: I like the logo and I like how "boomskill" font size grows but the boom is too small. Not sure how to fix it, I think there is something there though. Nice work. I also enjoy the slight blue change of color b/t boom and skill.

#31: Not sure if I like the pic icons on the left or the right side but I think I want to stay away from black font. Just doesn't have the happy/exciting feel we are going for.

thank you again to everybody who has submitted thus far!

#29: really love the clean font and colors! The problem is the bomb carries a somewhat negative image so I'd love to see what you could come up with changing the bomb to something else or any other ideas you have! And I do enjoy the fuse changing into a growing leaf...clever. =) Just still wary of the bomb image

#34 is pretty slick though I'm worried that the picture icons are the main focus rather than "BoomSkill"

#38 is close but I think something is off with the colors. Since two of pic icons colors are used (blue for the boom and the green for the skill), could the orange be used somehow? Maybe as an underline? Lastly, I'm not sure how it would look, but can you try to capitalize the "b" of boom and the "s" of skill? Just trying to see if we can pop them out. Or, maybe even make the "b" and the "s" the orange color of the basketball pic icon. Blame me if it looks awful!

#41 nice job with adding the orange underline...looks pretty good!

I was curious if I could see any more vertical logos with the Boom above the Skill. Not sure how that will look. Or maybe a larger pic icon that is more vertical (check out www.Digsby.com and their logo/title in the top left).

Now I just want to see some crazy, fun different ideas. Wow me with creativity! =)

Overall I would like to try and find a logo that tells a bit about what we do so when people see it they get an idea (albeit probably a small idea). Skills, Lessons, Teaching, Learning, Growing, etc are hard to convey in images so i know it's no easy task!

Ranking only one designer in all top positions will discourage other designers to join your contest and therefore you´ll have no new entries from new designers.

Something most Contest Holders don´t know is what´s the ranking for and how to rank entries.

How to Rank and Thank Designers: When it comes time for rankings, designers appreciate when you choose the top three CONCEPTS (as opposed to variations of the same design) for the gold, silver and bronze awards. If you want to rank two different concepts by the same designer in the top three, that's fine.
Also, rank as many entries as possible, because designers get points added to their overall site standing for each blue ribbon they get.

This is how points are distributed:

1st place - 50 points
2nd place - 20 points
3rd place - 10 points
4-6th place - 5 points
7-10 place - 3 points
11th+ (you can rank as many as you like) - 1 point

After that, each ranked entry gets one point for the designer. Nobody will be insulted by being ranked last, the points are still good! So if you pull some entries out of the "Not Interested" group and give them a rank, the designer gets some benefit from entering your contest.

Hope that's helpful, lots of contest holders don't realize this and most are glad to know. It's a good way to thank designers who don't win the contest prize, but who worked very hard to offer you lots of options to choose from for a great logo.

Thanks and Good Luck!

#41 can you change the green pic icon to something a little more recognizable? I see the chess piece but some people wont. maybe something about art, Entertainment, cooking, money, etc. something just easier to see that describes a large skill set. thanks!

#62 i really love those colors, that blue is something special. I think i want to stay away from the Apple logo since i think Apple Computers have a pretty good lock on that one. Really like the font and colors though!

Based on my new knowledge that was graciously given to me by Tahia, I have extended the tournament another 7 days. I feel that I was not using the Ranking system effectively.

As always, I would appreciate any feedback/criticism/suggestions/etc. I know in the end I will receive a fantastic logo!
