The name of the logo inspiration, which is "beef jerky time," is an excerpt from a line in the 1983 movie Trading Places, starring Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd. In the movie it literally references the food product beef jerky, however, in our retail club, it represents a disguised code-word for a cigar session, or a "herf." This came about when we needed an encrypted word to misdirect the cigar-disapproving wives of our members, which did not need to know about the who, what, where, when and why of our cigar sessions. Thus beef jerky time or #beefjerkytime (in conversation, text, facebook, or instagram postings) became the unofficial and clever battle cry, for us brothers-of-the-leaf (BOTL) to unite!
