Logo Designer
Hi there,

Hope your having a good week so far?

Here are some of my concepts. I've gone for something that's fairly clean and simple, yet striking. Creating an icon that works well within the logo or as a stand alone element, one that can be used for things like favicons or watermarks.

The logos are 100% vector so will scale well to any size, and works well in full colour, B&W and on coloured backgrounds if needed,

It would be my pleasure to work up any variations so please do say.
I look forward to your comments or thoughts.

Regards,
Angus

Hi Angus,

Great work, thanks a lot. I found #35 a bit too energetic, perhaps because of the colors I do not know. #36 is nice, I like it. #33 is nice as well but somehow not as nice as #33.

Something is still missing, though. I cannot define it but perhaps I need different colors. Any recommendations? You do not need to stick to the website at all, I can change it anytime. I just like that Blurb template there and used it so the logo does not have to follow, but would be nice to keep them fitting each other :)

Hi there,

Thanks for the comments and feedback, always appreciated!

Here are a few new colour combinations; #39, #40, #41 and #42 - all slightly more "serious" but still good combinations.

Cheers

#39 and #42 are good. Thanks.

Do you think I should use a symbol? I consider animals to be very effective. What do you think?

Personally i think some form of a symbol/icon is good as well as handy! The idea being that people come to recognize you by the symbol ... A bit like the twitter bird for instance. The symbol icon is also handy for smaller places where you can't have the full logo.

Animals can be great icons ... They either work as a relevant image / meaning or completely left field

Hope that helps :)

Sounds good Angus. Would you recommend a symbol considering the descriptions I made in the project brief?

Quantum offices and Catfish - these logos you made are simply fantastic. I also like all 4 above but I can see you have the potential to do much better :)

Thanks for the kind words, greatly appreciated :)

One idea we could do is #71 and #72 - playing of the idea of "strategy", and nothing better than a chess piece!

Client
Fantastic, chess piece is great. Do you know chess? Knight is not the most important piece in the game but it is the only piece that can move over other pieces, so a great pick if you did this intentionally. Getting even better I must say :) The only reason you are not 1st at the moment is because I like the icon of the other guys more. It will be a tough selection for sure because I also liked #72 as well - smart with the conversation bubble inside the icon while showing the initials.

Do not care about the ranking so much because I am only human and I cannot rank stuff until I pick them :) For instance, #49 and #51 are great. My wife loved #50 but I did not, only because it is too feminine. It is great though, I am still tempted to keep it.

I want the logo to be something that will be remembered but not too loud. Keep showing me more options and challenge me :)

By the way, I have another contest named Pronetgaming. I would be happy to see your work there as well.

Lots of nice designs and I cannot eliminate any of them somehow. Despite liking all of them, I still think there is something missing but I cannot guide you either.

A few variations of #39 (just to compare); #114, #115, #116, #117 and #118.

A bit of perspective and angle with #119

Client
Just #117, perhaps. The rest is not what I am looking for. Keep the colors the way they are I think and I didn't like the perspective idea, either :)

#78 and #80 are also nice, perhaps some variations of those as well?

Any new ideas are also welcome but I think you already show me many nice logos :)

One more request - the evil eye is a common symbol in Turkey. Although I do not live there and do not practice any customs, I thought it might be smart to have it in my logo. One designer already tried it and it looks all right, could you try as well?

Hi there,

Quick question ... Did you ask the other designer to include this or was it their idea? If it was their idea, then I'm afraid I can't do it as it would be copying. Of course if it was your idea, then its open to everyone ;)

No worries, I respect your attitude a lot.

It was my idea. I PM-ed him about this and he included it.

Thanks for the confirmation :)

Here are a few options with that evil eye; #137, #138, #139 and #140

#137 is not what I am after, actually none of them probably are. They rather look like someone is spying on the viewer :) If I had to pick from these, however, I would choose #140 to improve.

Logo Designer
I completely agree ... I think the shapes of the icon don't really lend themselves to the inclusion of the evil eye - it almost feels like we're adding something for the sake of adding it.

Client
I agree. Let's not force it :)

You can still try to work on a different concept including this figure. The other guy probably checked my site and then reached Linkedin or somewhere else and found I am Turkish, so he included the moon figure (most people assume I am muslim since I am from Turkish although I am not). I somehow liked it because it is oriental and adding the evil eye even made it better. So it seems like it will be a selection between his oriental designs and your Western designs :)

My wife just took a look at #139 and #140, and she told me "it looks like a bird trying to eat from the ground". I never saw it this way but it's true ! :)

I think the best one so far is #138.

Client
Can you produce #138 with the "O" fully as the evil eye?

Logo Designer
You know what I never saw the bird in those entries, but now I see it every time I look :)

Of course no problems at all, here are two versions;
#143 and #144 (slight different is that #144 has a lighter shade of the teal colour around the dark grey center)

Client
I think I will pick one of the following: #146, #70, #117, #51. The evil eye seems to make it crowded and it is against my "less is more" motto.

Hi there,

Great to hear, and thanks for a great project!

Don't worry I also prefer less is more :)

Shifting my attention back to #71 and #72.. I want 2 things:

1) Remove "consult" from the logo and keep Baytekin only. My name is my currency so let's keep out the engagement method out of the logo.

2) Show me 3 color options: turquoise, maroon and orange.

Chess is a nice theme because it represents intelligence, fast thinking, thinking a few steps ahead etc. Plus, knight is the only piece in chess that can move over other pieces without directly confronting them, thus representing "alternative solutions".

Client
Please do the same with #70 as well.

No problems at all ... Here are all those options :)

Thanks, some questions again:

1) Do you think we should keep the icon and the text separate colors?

2) Do you think we should keep the text size the same or make it a bit bigger i.e. same height as the logo?

Logo Designer
To answer your questions;

(1) I think this is a personally choice. Sometimes it works as all one colour, but generally speaking I think it works better as two (when using colours like orange and teal - I think it becomes a bit overpowering when everything is in those colours). That way you have a base colour and a highlight colour, which can help for future branding purposes.

(2) Again a personal choice. I think when you have something like #146 i.e. two lines of copy, it works to align the icon to the same height. In instances where you have 1 line of copy and an image, I generally find it works better / has a better balance when the icon is slightly larger - its almost leads into each. Also with icons like #70 and #71, if we made the text the same size as the icon, I fear the icon would get lost and look too small.

Hope that helps :)

Ok, great!

One last question: I need to make sure logos are printable both black-and-white and color. Do you foresee any problems with this considering the variations above?

Logo Designer
Don't worry, those designs won't be a problem at all, whether colour or B&W. Since everything is flat and solid colour, it will easily turn into B&W.

Client
Angus, can you also reproduce #146 and #117 without the text CONSULT but just BAYTEKIN? My wife insists this should be the one so I will give it another chance :)

Logo Designer
No problems at all. Here are three versions for each;

TURQUOISE
#159 - Baytekin same size as icon
#160 - Baytekin same size as inner turquoise element of icon
#161 - Baytekin same size above but from the inner line of element

ORANGE
#162 - as per #159
#163 - as per #160
#164 - as per #161

Personally I think a good balance is either #161 or #164 - visually I think they sit well side by side. But of course completely up to you :)

Thanks Angus, I agree with #161 and #164.

I think there is just one thing left: Please make the knight and the logo the same blue color. I have this with Baytekin Consult text but not only with Baytekin.

Do you also have the feeling that the "baytekin" could be a bit bigger compared to the knight icon?

I will make a choice once I see these as well. You are surely the winner but the question is which logo wins :)

Logo Designer
No problems at all, here are those versions.

For each one I've done three size comparisons; original, smaller icon, and smaller still.
And I agree, I think it looks better when the text is bigger, so I would go with the middle sized version (#166 and #169).

Cheers

Hi again!

Please make #148 with the small knight icon and I will pick that as the winner. #154 is number 2 and #164 is number 3.

Thanks a lot!
