Hi there,

Hope your having a good week so far?

Here is one of my proposals.
I've used simple but effective typography, using fonts that have beautiful characters to them, making them unique, to stand out from the crowd, whilst still having an elegance and presence. Please do click on the file to view it as large as you can :)

The logo is 100% vector so will scale well to any size, and works well in full colour, B&W and on coloured backgrounds if needed,

It would be my pleasure to work up any variations so please do say.
I look forward to your comments or thoughts.

Regards,
Angus

I dig the way these are going! Check out the typefaces I posted in the main comments section, perhaps they can better help you to understand our preferences.

Can you try working with lighter weight type faces? Try the ones I listed... Also, not every rendering needs a period at the end. Perhaps you can also try to find a gradient of grey to use an abstract part of the logo like the perimeter of a circle etc etc. Look how the gradient is being used in this app icon

Hi there,

Thanks for the comments and direction!

Here are a few new options;

#299 - Uses Akzidenz-Grotesk
#300 - Uses Alright Sans
#301, #302, #303 - All use FB Agency

Cheers

These are getting stronger Angus! I really like -- Akzidenz-Grotesk, feels right for us. The other are good too. All though FB Agency is really interesting as well.

I also like the Akzidenz-Grotesk - I think it has great characters i.e. the R (strong horizontal stem), B (slightly wider) and a nice curve on the S.

Hey, I'm trying to get together some final comments... I think the final logo should probably have two parts -- a monogram that can be used separately from the word mark. I'm also still wavering around typeface so I'll get you feedback on that critical part soon.

Hey there,

No worries, I look forward to the feedback :)

Hmmm, I think a circle is probably best for a monogram... they look a bit like pills...

I've done some looking and am still unsure of the typeface but you are no doubt on the right path. To avoid confusion, can you just publish monogram and word mark at the same time?

Typefaces: I like the this in #301 #302 and #299

#234: This has great cohesion, but the typeface feels heavy.

Anyway, let me know and I can give you deeper feedback if need be. I've looked at your other marks and I think you can easily get this to that place it needs to be.

Thanks!

HI Chad,

Thanks for the comments ... Sadly its against the rules here at Logotournament to show two elements in one submission. However that said, you could ask Admin, and they might make an acception? And if they did, they would post this so everyone can see and no one gets into trouble.

To clarify .. you prefer a slightly thinner font, either condensed or normal?
Do you prefer the "Aston" and "Barbato" to be the same size? On two lines or one?
Are there specific characters within those fonts that you like? For instance, I like the "S" in #234

Speak to you soon.

Cheers

Hi Chad ... A few new options :)

Hi Chad,

Just going back to the monogram / logo being shown at the same time.
The way I can do it, is by making it look like its all part of the entire logo i.e. wording + icon (which would be the monogram).

Hey can we work on the letter spacing of #395? I'd like to focus in this. I'm not sold on the period after Barbato. Also the same feedback for #299.

Hey Chad,

No problems at all ... Here are a few options for both. WIth each one I've started with really compact kerning and gone all the way to stretched out;

#404, #405, #406, #407, #408, #409, #410, #411, #412 and #413

#412 and #411 are feeling better. Can you play with the distance between the two words as well. I feel there needs to be some air between them.

Thanks,
Chad

No problems ...

I have taken #411 and created the following. Each has incrementally a bit more space between the words;

#414, #415, #416, #417, #418

Yeah #415 has the most "hum" -- so lets settle with that for the moment and focus on brining it forward more.

When you say "bringing it forward more", could you elaborate??

You know it is pretty good as it is -- I was just leaving the door open for you to explore a bit further in a direction you see fit.

A few variations, playing with a centred version and using lines to frame the whole name: #422, #423, #424 and #425

Can you try maybe incorporate a / or a +... going a bit to the edge but maybe try something different...

Logo Designer
We can indeed :) Here are few options. I think personally the "+" works better.

Do you mind doing the monogram part when I close the contest?

Logo Designer
Firstly thanks for awarding me, was a great project :)
Secondly no problems at all, we can do it afterwards ... We are actually only able to upload one set of files, so anything additional can be done directly via email.

Right let me get the final files sorted!
