"Indian Paintbrush" dripping paint. This one is just two colors and black (and shaded to a gray). I like the simplicity of the color palette. Both entries were loads of fun to do. I had family from San Antonio and Waco. Lots of good bluebonnet memories. Thanks for your feedback.
''#11 could you depict stronger/higher hills, oak tree? in the background and maybe consider cactus, instead of bluebonnets? We have a rougher cowboy type of hill country vs. Brenham Texas that's better known for it's softer rolling hills. I love the blue "W" in the visual. Nice.
Or consider depicting the cypress tree trunks in the water. More of a cypress tree/water scene? I love the overall design if we could more closely tie the visual elements to the town of Wimberley.
# 13 And here could you make the indian paintbrush brush/paint effect so it's more easily identifiable? Just a thought.
Highlighting the "paint" effect. I'm working on more submissions per your suggestions, but I have a family obligation today. I'll get the others in as soon as I can. Thanks for your feedback.
#11 We really like this one, (it depicts the hill country, wimberley) our main concern is if it's too complicated to print in some contexts...like how would it show up in black and white. Could you simplify it a bit. What do you think? Let's focus on this one and not the Indian paintbrushes... Thanks :)
Uploaded new design before seeing your comment. I was going to tell you that I want to make an attempt to simplify the scenic designs. Black and white and also limited colors are a concern for the one I just uploaded, too. I'll work on simplifications. Thank you for the continued interest and feedback.
#59 is Wimberley!!! Now we just need to simplyfy. Maybe keep some detail (not all) in cypress trees and rocks, and significant less detail in the middle so it "pushes" it back. You are very talented, and as you know for a logo, less is more.
I'm submitting some variations on the same design here. The green/black is set up in two colors, a spot green and black with a tint of each. It could also be done without the tints, if needed, but this would count as a two-color print job. I've also done a grayscale version, which is all black and tints of black, and one that is pure black and white, no tints. We could also add as many colors (either spot color inks or CMYK full color) as you like. It would be nice to add the brown/orange and blue back in, but I wanted to simplify and get some of the detail out before adding any other colors back in. I also did some font variations. Let me know if you want to keep fiddling with this one, take a new direction, etc. I still have bluebonnets on the cutting room floor, if you want to go back to wildflowers and rolling hills. Thanks for giving these a look.
#91. We both (Rob and I (Belinda) love the design. Couple of requests. Really like the "Wimberley" typeface. More fun... Can you do this in color like #87. And could the Tree look more like a Cypress Tree. It has huge root system on the bottom. Google the Tree type and I think that's it. We also like the aqua blue with dark green. That should communicate clearly in B&W and color. And maybe , we can just use the type face when using print ads without the visual.
I'll happily work on your requests. Just so you know, you can rank us anyway you like during the contest and even during judging, but when you finalize and close it, you must select the top three from different people. Whatever design you choose in the end, however, can be sent to you in all different forms (black-and-white, spot colors, full color, etc.). We are obligated to submit certain formats and colors upon request, and I and most designers here will give you just about any other format you might need as well.
Really like the more dev root system. Looks like the Cypress Trees in the River. One tangent.. if you're willing to pursue it....
We like the idea of a Stag/deer on a hill with sunset (orange and black/brown)? Is that easy to pull together? If that's too much don't worry, just a thought.
I wouldn't say, "easy to pull together," but it's a fun contest, and I'm willing to keep competing as long as I can manage it. :) This is two colors plus black, then a grayscale version. The new font here is hand drawn. The other font, incidentally, is a commercial font that has been tweaked just a tiny bit here.
I worked on the bluebonnet field concept a bit more. I think the limiting factor is how well we can get a field of colorful flowers to represent in black and white, so that's what I'm submitting first.
We are taking day to digest the new designs. Really like the deer concept, (not the type though) and the new Bluebonnet field. I'll get back to you later tonight or tomorrow. One interesting comment two marketing friends of mine said, (not sure if I agree but food for thought) is that the word "Wimberley" dominates "artist workshop" and that maybe that should be more equal, or equal. I'm just sharing that with you.. as I rather like Wimberley being a little larger...
Anyway, I'll send you more constructive comments later, and we'll be wrapping this up soon. You are in the top 3 though.... and thanks for your diligence and care.
Thanks for the compliments. As I've said, it was a fun project, and I have an emotional connection to that part of the country. I'm submitting one last take on the paintbrush-flower concept, just to throw it back in the mix. I wish you the best of luck with your decision, and thank you for the experience. I live in the Deep South, so the cypress tree art should eventually come in handy around here.
