I am working with Orca at this time. While I love what you created, as do many others, The other one came out with more than twice as many votes in the two surveys I did.
I'm getting ready to do another poll. Hoping you could make the wood grain a little less pronounced. Also, possibly do a version that includes since 1961 at the bottom, if you feel it fits. Everything else about it is exactly what I was looking for.
I am happy to make any corrections requested, but at this stage of the contest only the first designer can add new projects. If you are still interested in my work, please add me to the 1st place so I can add corrected projects.
I've gotten some feedback on your logo and what people want to see is the stain seal protect words stand out more. Maybe reverse them on a black background like you see on the other finalist?
This is much closer. Can you please make the bottom of the "sprayed looking" part more solid? In other words, less of a transition between the stained and unstained portions. Does this make sense?
Also, I like the gaps between the pickets but please make them (the white space) a little smaller.
Finally, it occurred to me that the proportion of the pickets used are close to that of 4-inch pickets. Once you make the above adjustments, Please make a second version that would look more like three 6-in pickets. In other words, they will occupy the same amount of space horizontally but they're only will be three of them.
Okay, we are getting closer here. A few more things to tweak:
1) I think I like the white around stain-seal-protect like in #160.
2) let's make the bottom, unstained part of the pickets the same color as #129 and other early ones.
3) The transition between stained and unstained should be more severe. Think of it as sprayed or rolled on instead of brushed on. Right now, you can see brush strokes. Does that make sense?
Yes, These two projects are slightly different in shades of unpainted pickets. This second design is a bit more pink.
Regarding your suggestions, I've done other projects. I hope I understood you correctly.
Better idea--Bottoms of the pickets straight but leave some of the bottoms "unstained" as though the stain were being applied from the top down. But put "stained" look at the tops of all four pickets.
Please tell me the difference between #170 and #171. Is it the coloration?
Also, in regard to the bottom of the pickets, I'd like to see it somewhere between flat on the bottom like this one and "ragged" like #163, #168 and many others. Please think about what the stain would look like as it is spayed on instead of brushed on.

Also, I like the direction of showing the partial stain like this one (#165)
Also, please look at the files showing photos of our trailer. I've been trying to get the art file that just has the fence background but have been unable to. I would like to see what you have created (same shape pickets) but with that art. Ideally, the new logo will closely match that art.
I'm not crazy about the exaggerated grain. I'm working on getting a piece of art that I will post. It is the background from our stain trailer and would be good to use for the picket. So far, I like your concept the best.
This outlining is great! Take a look at the revision to the brief I just added, and the two new photos I uploaded.
[EDIT 8/18: I just uploaded photos of the trailer we use. The logo we want to create will be on the truck pulling this trailer, as well as on our printed collateral.]
I really like the direction of this. Dog-eared pickets for sure but I'd like to see some variations of how many, overall proportion to the central logo, etc. Also, how to make FENCE COMPANY stand out more. Okay to add an outline or make that text black.
Also would like to see more variations on the stain seal protect wording.

For the unstained pickets, maybe something between what you have here and the greyer look on #165

But...maybe try where one of the boards isn't done yet?

I'd like to explore how we might show staining in process (not all the boards are stained?). Thank you.
