mkdes!dn,
Have you ever seen a movie, and when leaving, someone asked you, "how did you like the movie?" and you answered "I don't know yet". That is how I'm feeling right now about your design. At first glance, I know that as-is its not the winning design. I also know it certainly doesn't belong in the bottom of the rankings. Sadly, however, I can't articulate much more about it.

I'm probably going to have to sleep on this to figure it out. In the meantime, let me try to identify pieces that I can say something about at least:

Main Design Element: My attention is directed immediately and at length at the 3D effect of the word Analytics and its shadow. That is where all my attention stays. That must be good. I have to really be disciplined to think about anything else (i.e. colors or font).

Font: I worry about sans-serif "In Focus" reminding me too much of InFocus Projectors logo. Your choice of two different colors makes me less concerned about that than in other people's designs.

You definitely have the seed of an idea, I'm sorry I can't help verbalize more.
Thanks, Phil

When I showed people all the designs yesterday, yours was one of the most commented on. "Wow, that's really different" was the common line --- and they all had the same trouble defining what they liked or didn't like about it. I was glad it wasn't just me losing my mind. But different is good. You are definitely the dark horse of this competition. (Sorry if "dark horse" doesn't translate well in Greek, but your English is flawless so I'll trust you'll understand).

I just posted my latest observations on the comment section of the main page. I wonder if the "wow" part of your design would remain intact if the design were altered to look like a magnifying glass laying on its side. I should elaborate. The way you have your design now, it almost gives me the feel that the purple analytics is being seen on the lens of a magnifying glass, with the gray analytics being the thing that the magnifying glass is reading. The words In Focus almost look like the handle of the magnifying glass.

I know I'm being an engineer trying to put a beautifully flowing creative idea into my square box. I won't be offended if you ignore this idea. Even if you do, I would appreciate a version with a serif-font (I don't know why but I just like them) -- especially for the In Focus words (when they are in Sans-serif, they look too much like InFocus Projectors)

revisions with half sans serif and whole fonts
The Dark Knight has now left the building! Good luck with your competition!
