I like #1 at first glance. Clean, classic, touch of class. Not too sure about the old style mic.

I would like to see more Letterform Mark, though not a definite requirement.

Hi Dear rrobson ! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank and re-rank a variety of designs to get a variety of new entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for designs ranked in the top 10. We like to earn points.

~~ NOTE: While in JUDGING mode, the designer ranked in 1st can still submit revisions.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

Even though I did not post a slogan, the inclusion of additional wording is welcome. Some of you have visited my website... I hope that offers you some feel for my business approach and the type of message I would like to send.

Things are getting quite interesting....
I would love to see more variations of the letterform stuff.

Some designs are submitted twice, showing me black on white and white on black versions. If I like the design, would I be able to get each version. If not, would someone be able to edit the .eps file later and change colors? (i know nothing about the file format)
Also, how does a CH usually handle ranking when two designs are the same, except color? I don't want to send the wrong message by putting one in the not-interested box.

If I could reset some of the sliders, I would move slightly more towards Adventure, Exotic, Complex and Loud. Slightly.

Once the contest is over, the winning designer can e-mail you alternate files.
Logo Tournament only allows upload of .jpg & .eps (the .eps is editable though)
As far as ranking two designs which are the same except for color, you can either
rank them consecutively, or just leave it un-ranked (if you didn't want to place it
in the not-interested box) but that is really up to you.
Hope this info helps.

Even though most higher ranked designs are black background, the final logo will need to be used on both light and dark backgrounds.

Could we try emphasizing "Alvin" and "Entertainment"? I would have named my company "Alvin Entertainment", but there are already a few.
...eye catching...memorable

Thanks Designers for all the great stuff. It is becoming increasingly interesting and as more ideas come in, my idea of what I want is being constantly influenced.
A distinct letterform mark or wordmark or other type of "symbol" has become quite important.
Intriguing, uncommon, bold, clean
I am ranking based on overall feel that I get from the logos, not so much the details.
Just over one day left and I'm still looking for "The One"!

I would like to again mention about emphasizing "alvin" and "entertainment"...
Any letterforms could also contain the "E".
This is tougher than I thought it would be!

Thanks, everyone, for all your great submissions!!
Time is running out and my vision continues to evolve. I just want to share where my thoughts are going.
How to sell, remember and identify ALVIN? Alvin is a DJ. But more than just a DJ(music)... also an Entertainer... and a Master of Ceremonies. ALVIN is a person and a persona.
My official business name is "Alvin Sowers Entertainment". The shorter, easier versions, "DJ Alvin" and "Alvin Entertainment", were already taken.
ALVIN is not a very common name, but people remember it well. (I must look like an Alvin!)
SOWERS is part of the business name, so it would be included in a logo. It could almost appear as an afterthought or subliminal. The same could apply to the "s" if you should decide to create a letterform containing "a, s and e"
These are not requirements, just an evolution of my thoughts and ideas (fueled by the evolution of your work).
Again, thanks for all of your efforts and creativity!

While we're at it... "Alvin" as a wordmark could be interesting. Even "DJ Alvin". ?A prominent wordmark accompanied by full business name?

I requested the 3 day extension. Before I go on, I would like to ask if I have changed directions too much or have been ambiguous or difficult?
If it were acceptable and should the designers be willing, I would like to utilize the extension to explore yet another direction. I would be willing to increase the prize, if it is permissable.
Thanks, in advance, for any responses.

Designers are never opposed to increasing the prize amount. ;-)

The new direction would be to consider branding the word "ALVIN". The word and not the name. Maybe imagine Alvin as an adjective instead of my name.
You might even cause me to change the business name to "alvin entertainment" ;-)

Client
And by change the name I mean see what happens without "sowers".

And by adjective I mean solid, trustworthy, original, honest, personable, valuable.
Your designs are getting so amazing... this is very exciting from my side!!

"alvin" doesn't always drink beer, but when it does, it drinks "Dos XX"

Maybe it's not DJAlvin as much as it is the business "Alvin"... which is a DJ and entertainment company... and specializes in weddings.

alvin wedding entertainment?

It seems that "alvin" has emerged as the focal point.
It has been a process and this is where we landed.
So, forget about the official name of my business and brand "alvin"
"Wedding Entertainment" "Entertainment" and "DJ" are variables.
I will have two separate marketing campaigns. One for weddings only and another for school dances, corporate parties, etc.

QUESTION:
Are the elements within the .eps file able to be separated, rearranged, re-sized? For example, will a print shop be able to choose and print just the graphic portion? Change the color? If text is originally below a graphic, could they move it to the side?
I'm just wondering how much flexibility I have when it comes to putting it to use in marketing materials.

Dear CH,
yes, .eps vector file flexibilities enable to to be separated, rearranged, re-sized, change color, move graphic potion, etc and always meet the requirements of printing industry.

9 hours
Here are a few thoughts on revisions or new submissions during these last hours.

-There are some very impressive designs with "sowers" included, but I intend to drop "sowers" from the business name and logo.
-I would like to see "alvin entertainment" or "entertainment" or "wedding entertainment" or "alvinentertainment.com" included.
-Prefacing "alvin" with "dj" could sometimes be a part of the logo (ex. MY name tag or MY shirt), but not for general use in marketing materials. "DJ" is not part of the business name, though it is a big part of what we do!
-I would like the final design to be easy to read and the letterform marks should be quickly understood.
-Please take time to look at the evolution that has occurred since the contest started. Read through the comments.

I will be attentive for the remainder of the contest.

Rankings have been based on overall feel and appeal... while feel and appeal are still major factors, from this point on, rankings will become more dependent upon the inclusion of the details, attention to all of the commments and the final product.

With twenty minutes to go, rankings are being adjusted according to votes from "my community". I want to give you the recognition you deserve! Thanks a million to everyone for your submissions!
I will highly recommend this tournament to anyone I know that is looking for a logo! The amount of talent here is unbelievable!
Maybe, just maybe, I'll be looking for a logo for my other business.... Lawn Care...
(I'm still looking at the new stuff.)
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
